No, it was several blown calls. If the refs had flagged OU for all of the FLAGRANT holding they were doing all game long, holding the U of O was getting flagged for constantly, there never would have been an onside kick to begin with.

Possibly the worst officiated game I've ever seen(and I saw every play of it, not just one play on Sportscenter), and one team got by far the short end of the stick. OU linemen were busting out a freaking lasso on every freaking play, and some of the more flagrant offenses were on crucial 3rd downs.

I think Wisconsin's ranking is just about right. They probably would have lost to OSU, and they did lose to UM, although they gave them a tough game for a half.

I think UW is top-ten quality, but the argument for putting them at #3 in the conference is pretty strong. IMO, that's good for 6-7-8 in the BCS...right where they are.

If Bielema stays at Wisconsin for 10 or more years, he’ll eventually outshine Alvarez. I greatly appreciate what Barry did in building this program. But Barry’s teams almost always lost at least one game a year that they should have won. One example was the loss to Michigan in 1998. Michigan was a good team that year, but that was UW’s only loss of the season.

Also, Barry’s major goal each year was to get to the Rose Bowl, even though he had a couple of teams that could have aimed at the national championship. I think Bielema has higher aspirations, and they’ll start out next season ranked much higher than they did this season. Hopefully Bielema will push Alvarez to develop a stronger OOC schedule.

One thing does concern me. There’s rumors out there that if the Iowa job ever opened up, Bielema would be very interested in it. And btw, I believed all along that Michigan was a better team than USC. Hopefully they’ll prove it.

I have no argument whatsoever with UW’s ranking. But they are a better team now than they were early in the season, and the team would like another shot at Michigan. Not that they deserve it, they just feel strongly that they could beat them now. They finished ahead of Michigan in both total offense and total defense. But based on their total body of work, I would put them at 5th, ahead of USC and Louisville.

So? It's not like he told his players to dog a game so they could get a spot in the Rose Bowl instead of the MNC game.

Mid-nineties, huh? Nebraska was awfully good back then. But the two years when you beat the Spartans back then (1995 and 1996), they were 6-5-1 and 6-6 (Nebraska was 12-0 and 11-2). When you beat them in the Alamo Bowl in 2003, they were 8-5, but not Big 10 co-champs (Nebraska was 10-3).

And while you beat Big 10 co-champ Northwestern in the 2000 Alamo Bowl, they weren’t a great team at 8-4 (Nebraska was 10-2).

You’ve played Michigan twice since 1985. At the end of 1985 in the Fiesta Bowl you lost 27-23 (they weren’t Big 10 co-champs). Last year you beat a 7-5 Michigan team in the Alamo Bowl. And they weren’t Big 10 co-champs.

I’m not sure but I think that covers your recent history of “mediocre” Nebraska teams playing Big 10 teams in bowls. Good thing you avoided the Alamo Bowl this year. You would have gotten rolled by 6-6 Iowa.
