If they weren't minors, then which laws would have been broken? I believe they've modified their policy since then...so that the pedos only get busted for a wrist-slap violation(since they didn't actually have any sexual contact with a minor...see how that catch-22 works), and are much more cautious about their predation in the future...so PJ is possibly hurting the children...but they don't care, as long as they get their fame and fortune...which is everyone's beef with them in the first place....or one of many beefs.

I have seen the argument here, in the troll forums, about how can a crime be committed when it's just talk, and it's not even a little kid on the other end but an adult pretending to be a kid? where was the crime? And I can see that argument. However, someone who's willing to set up a meeting is guilty of intent (and conspiracy? or does conspiracy have to involved more than one person?), and intent can be a crime in itself, correct?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Hate on John Walsh all anyone wants (and there are reasons to do so), but he has helped people be more wary in keeping watch of their children. Parents need to know who is out there and what is out there.

There are too many parents who think that just because their kid is quiet on the computer, that they're not getting into trouble. They're letting the computer be the babysitter that television used to be -- except the computer is extremely more dangerous than television.

If more parents know who is out there, what is out there, what signs to look for, and how to keep their children safe, then that's more kids saved from the predators of the world. Then, just have to keep fingers crossed that the angels or someone looks out for the kids whose parents honestly don't give a shit, or whose parents are actively pimping them to perverts.

No, they should not make up statistics. That's alarmism. So yes, keep them honest. You're right, they need to tone down any false statistics (just like the missing and exploited children people need to tone down on the inflated statistics). But there is some truth to the madness. I disagree with you, but only if by 'innocent' you mean that they didn't physically touch the 'victims', who were not who they represented themselves to be anyway... I don't know what the law says, but I say that's not innocent at all. If you intend to have sex with a child, and go out of your way to set up a sexual meeting with someone you assume to be a child, then it doesn't matter that the person on the other end was an adult -- you are a pedophile, and frankly burning in hell is too good for you.

I think I know where Cuda is going with his point about crusaders -- given the Foley scandal of October. But not every crusader is someone trying to improve their own game in catching prey. Mark Klaus and John Walsh are not closet abductors, they really do want to make sure that scum is off the street. I believe they may have other personal problems, but being who they attempt to catch is not one of them.

If Perverted Justice is destroying the lives of innocent people, then yes they should be stopped, or at least forced to be responsible for their actions so that they are catching the true bad guys and not being sloppy with their investigations. If by 'innocent', however, Dinsdale means 'no sexual penetration occurred', that's not good enough. To me, it's like paying someone to kill a third person. Just because the person you paid turns out to be an undercover cop who had no intention of following through, doesn't mean that YOU didn't intend for the follow through. It's a crime to pay someone to kill another; it should also be a crime to even merely attempt to follow through to have real life sex with an assumed child.
