Hell, what if Jamarcus Russell decides to leave early?

That's a serious arm there.

True, but if he declared for the draft, he'd be a sure #1 IMO.

Ain't many like him.

When it is all said and done Calvin Johnson will be a Raider.
I like Johnson.

Moss and/or Porter dealt somehow (perhaps along with one of the Raider picks -- this year or next) so that Oakland could get another first rd pick this year -- and then end up taking Johnson with the #1 pick and, Lynch later on in rd one.

A scenario I could live with, but perhaps a pipe-dream.
A LOT of $$$ issues would have to be worked out.

I spelled out briefly my concern about Peterson, and I just am not all that jazzed about B. Quinn.
Rick Mirer the 2nd .... ?
I dunno.
He just doesn't JUMP out at me as a can't miss stud QB.
I believe Oakland will manage to bring in a vet QB, dump Brooks, and have the vet and Walter battle it out for starter role.

It certainly would help keep us getting high picks.

Crappy QB + Millen as GM= continued Lions futility.

Russell is my number fear that the Lions pick with their draft pick.

He outperformed Quinn on national TV...it would at least make more sense to take him than to take Quinn.

He played great, but Quinn didnt have the luxury of playing ND's Defense.

Russell played better in the game, but Quinn has been more consistent over his career and put up far better numbers. I think it will come down to the Combine and how they interview as to which one will be taken first.

Russell=Randall Cunngingham.Meaning a very good QB but not great.

I'm not saying Quinn is great but I do like his leadership.

Yeah... As a matter of fact, I think Alcula is right now trying to find a way to trade up to get him.

From what the booth guys said during the game, Russell can throw the ball 40 yards off his butt (sitting of course).

Perfect fit for the Raider offense.

Louisiana State quarterback JaMarcus Russell will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft in April.

A news conference is scheduled Wednesday to announce the decision, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Sunday.

Russell, a 6-foot-6, 260-pounder from Mobile, Ala., was the nation's No. 3-ranked quarterback in passing efficiency this season. He threw for a career-high 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers' 41-14 victory over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday night.

Russell will finish his LSU career with 6,525 yards and 52 touchdowns in three seasons -- two as a full-time starter.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports on a Saturday version of Sunday NFL Countdown that the Atlanta Falcons are telling coaching candidates that they are "not necessarily married" to running back Michael Vick.

Wow.

It's a stunning disclosure, which in our view deserved lead of the show treatment.
Cliff said it himself at the game-the Raiders are trying incredibly hard to snag Vick.

I've heard Vick to Oakland speculation.
$$$ might be a big hurdle.
Vick's not cheap.
Oakland's also going to have to pony up big bucks by virtue of signing the #1 overall pick ..... unless they trade down.

Vick is intriquing on a certain level, but I can't say I'd feel great about him.
I'm thinking they'd definitely be hanging on to Moss in that case.
Hell, at current salaries you'd have not far from 1/3 of your entire payroll eaten up by two braindead streetballers.
Lot's o' playmakin' potential, yes, but both guys are coming off pretty bad years, and neither one is noted for their character.
Bottom line vote for me on M. Vick is NO.

Btw, I hear Oakland players coming out in support of a Ryan hiring.
I can understand it.
That said, I'm sort of thinking Al needs to hire a guy the players DON'T really dig that much.
Know what I mean .... ?

Are you saying Al should go after a guy that CANT be pushed around and bullied? What an odd concept!

Anyhow if we have to get an Atlanta Falcon i'd much rather get Alge Crumpler instead of Vick. Ron Mexico IMO would just be another headache here.

Tart, the only guy coming off a 'bad' year is already a Raider.

Vick had his best statistical year as a pro this past season, and became the first QB to run for over 1000 yards in the history of the NFL. He did this with horrid fucking recievers, save for Crumpler. I myself witnessed 4 occassions where a sure TD was flat out dropped (that Roddy White bomb that hit him in the hands immediately comes to mind)

Vick isnt my first choice, but I wouldnt complain if we somehow managed to get him on our team. Maybe then, Moss would be happy enough to catch a few lasers from him.

I think Vick had a better year in '02.
Higher QB rating, and he actually looked like he might be a winner in the NFL.

Maybe his supporting cast was weaker this year.

I'm not really down on M. Vick like a lot of folks are.
I'm intriqued by his game, and think he might flourish in the right situation.
Just don't know if Oakland is it.

I really think Oakland needs less free-wheelin' and individuality (which is what Vick is about), and more straight-up discipline.

Oakland need leadership and accountability more than anything.

An O-line would help too.

The word's out that Rich Gannon was at the teams facility in a suit for the QB coach position.

If Alcula brings him in for that, then we take Brady Quinn. Period.

He flourished in a pro system, and much like Leinart, he has strong leadership skills and a fucking accurate cannon for an arm. Perfect fit IMO.

...ah nothing like the perpetual banter on who the Duh's should go after....anyone else weary of the nonsense Raiduhfan spews out after each season ends in futility. George "run run" Jones is dead, but alas Alice is alive and kicking! So much for any credible decisions come draft time....

Well....they gotta have something to talk about.

Even a self-fellatio specialist like RJ can only rant for so long about how shitty the Chargers are (in his fertile mind).
Eventually they need to face something like reality.

Of course, its only a matter of time before the Charger dumbfucks who rarely offer a readable thing come in with both guns blazing about nothing in general.

It must suck to have a team and its entire fanbase this deep in your grey matter.

I'll be enjoying the ass tapping laid down by the Pats this coming weekend very much.

Feel free to start a thread entitled "46 years of pathetic ineptitude and counting" after said beatdown Vag Discharge fan-until then, step the fuck out and go shit on another thread with your takeless fucking drivel.

Actually TJAT, I liken Russell more to Culpepper. Big arm, Big Body, decent scramble ability.

If (Thats a HUGE if at this point) we draft a QB, Quinn has to be the guy. Especially with Rich bringing him along.

I doubt Oakland will take Russell.
He would appear to be much more of a 'project' than Quinn.
His talent looks off-the-charts, but I don't know that Al wants to be DEAD when the kid evolves into the dominant NFLer that he may become.

Yeah, but that arm .........

People thought that Vince Young wouldn't be ready to start for 5 years.

Alex Smith came out of a gimmick offense. Turner is doing a good job with him so far.

The defense, outside of Sapp, is still relatively young.

Russell has a quick release with that cannon. That ball comes out fast.

Very intriguing indeed.

you know,,when all is said and done I bet Grandpa Al takes Calvin johnson. Heres another QB who might be available. Byron Leftwich. Personally I say hell no,hes never impressed me and his work ethic is questionable. But he has a big arm and Grandpa likes the QBs with the big arms.
