If they ever get their act together, there is no reason Iraq can't become a prosperous nation and decent place to raise a family. At some point here enlightened self-interest is going to assert itself.
One can only hope, unfortunately many times as with individuals that only manifests itself after a lot of pain. The Iraqis have been through a lot so maybe they're due.
