I think they were doing both...Mickens wasn't exactly playing press coverage on Clark on that third down play.

You can't play both when you have a blitz package.
How much do you know about football?

OK Tom...whatcha got now? 3 timeouts and 1:00 to go. The Colts need to keep Hobbs from ripping a big chunk off on the return first.

79 or 80 yards to go...the Colts kick coverage helps out their defense.

Awesome game. It was a fun game to watch (well, from the last 3 minutes of the first half onward...) and I definitely dug the ending. Absolutely loved the fact that Golden Boy, aka Mr. Comeback, was the one who killed the possible comeback with that INT. Poetic.
Since I don't feel strongly compelled to pull for either the Bears or Colts in two weeks, I'll just hope for a SB that isn't over by the third quarter. We've had some damned great playoff games this season. Hope the finale lives up to the potential.

The best way to liven up a Super Bowl party is to incorporate some quality drinking games. Maybe some Asshole or 3 Man?
Too bad our livers can't keep up with them any more.
Oh, and rack the hell out of the Colts. Of course now they have to win the Super Bowl or the whole Manning can't win the big one crowd will have even more fuel.

This is the matchup I was hoping for. The Katrina and "Devastation of NO" hype would've been pouring out at disgusting levels all week had NO won that game. There's gotta be a point where they stop milking that for sheer attention, money, and ratings, right? Evil fucking bastards. Sure, the black head coach thing will get all kinds of run, but at least this will be something new and, therefore, somewhat appropriate.

Colts outplayed the Patriots for most of the game, Brady certainly was the goat for throwing into double covered receivers too often. It really burned him at the end with that pick. I see the Bears winning the big game in two weeks. I will be skiing in Telluride at the time and will likely have the slopes to myself for most of that day. There is always an upside . . . . . . . . . . . . .

420 wrote:The game really turned on that mystery pass interference call on Troy Brown on the pass play to Watson down on the 12 yard line.
It could have been 28-3. It really changed the mo.
This take is spot on and really stands out... "except for the MYSTERY part. It was this penalty
and the subsequent illegal motion penalty on Watson that really screwed them.
Even after the good PI call on Brown, at worst, they would have been lining up for a 50 yard attempt to go up 24-3. Instead Watson doesn't get set before the ball is snapped, the Colts take the penalty backing them up 5 more yards, and then sack Brady on the next play that forced the punt.
For me, the play of the game happened on the ensuing drive. Colts were facing 3rd and 10 from their own 12 after the punt. The Patriots could still stop them, get the ball back, put up another score and the game, for all intents and purposes, would be over. 28 to 3 at halftime = Super Bowl for NE. However... Manning hits Wayne for 18 yards and a first down.
This one play was the game. The Colts and Manning at this point realized they had Patriots D figured out and never looked back. They put up 35 pts in the next 32 minutes. Lights out. Game over.
Before I rack the Colts for a well deserved victory, I have to give a "fuck you" to Reche Caldwell. Cocksucker had two drops, the second of which may have cost his team the game. Also, "fuck you" to the pussy refs who didn't call pass interference late in the game when Caldwell got absolutely mugged in the endzone by two Colts defenders. They call a pussy face guarding penalty on Hobbs when he doesn't even touch Wayne, and yet, don't have the nuts to call PI on the home team.
Great game. RACK the Colts. RACK Manning for staring adversity in the face and leading his team to an amazing comeback.
They're not booooing in Baltimore... they're saying "Mayflower mooooovers!", eh Colts?
One more thing. UNRACK Belichick for not calling a time out on the play before Addai's game winning touchdown. I don't understand letting 35 seconds run off just to save a time out. At the time, he still had all 3 left. I was screaming at the TV for him to call it. 35 seconds could easily translate into 4-5 offensive plays. The Patriots last drive of the game may have played out differently with 35 more seconds... I don't know about you, but I'd rather have 60 seconds left from the Colts 45 and no time outs, than 25 seconds and one time out.
