Oh wait......

Ah, the ever-popular "you're a racist" attempt at deflection.
Gee, never seen

Actually, you-who-believes-in-the-vast-racist-conspiracy, if the media and tards like yourself weren't making such a BFD out if it,
I wouldn't have even noticed what ethnicity the coaches of either team were.
Believe it or not, that's not something I really do when I sit down to enjoy a game...matter of fact, I can't remember the last time I went through and did a racial inventory of the people on the sidelines...wait, yes I can...I last did that right around
never.
So, TO YOU, an African American performing their job in a competent fashion is a "step forward"?
I never really thought of it that way.
Dozens of white guys coached Super Bowl winners...I guess we should really celebrate that as a great step forward in keeping the Black Man down?
What the fuck are you even talking about, moron? I'm trying to figure it out, but A) you won't stick with any given statement, and B) the staements you are making are pretty dumb.

Dang, once we get past this vast racist conspiracy, that'll be a crazy day in football...when the first Chinese coach makes the SB.
Has there been a left-handed Super Bowl coach before? What a glorious day THAT will be.
That is awesome! RACK IT!
At least there has been a coach who loves goats in the Super Bowl (Shanahan).

Maybe an asterisk to a footnote of a very small, insignificant and irrelevant part of history.
From the time I was 9 years old "ankle biting" to the time I graduated high school, about the only history I cared about had named like Butkus, Lombardi, Huff, Payton, Lambert, Blier etc... etc...
But you are correct, I should have qualified NFL History.

Mace is right.
It IS a story.
Problem is, of course, is that the race card has not only been dog-eared, it's so damn worn that the clubs, hearts, diamonds, and ... uhh .... ?spades? have been all but rubbed off completely.
There's nothing left.
So now when we have a legitimate groundbreaking event, Whitey is pissed because it's more black black black black black .... yabbering ..... and blacks are pissed because Whitey is not buying into the significance of it.
Myself, I had the brief passing thought that it would be a black coach v. black coach Super Bowl, and that was it.

I know Dungy's been through a lot on the personal side over the last year, and I know NFL head coach is up there with any job when on comes to hours and stress, but dude does not look good. At all. I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a least a little mumbling in the media about it. Just made my day seeing a real class guy like Tony Dungy get over on Belijerk.
First time seeing Belichick fielding questions on TV, huh?
Let me tell you something... dude acted in the very same manner he
always does. Whether it's pre-game, post game, halftime (I think he refuses to do those, btw) or any day of the week that rhymes with "ChargerFanIsGay", dude is very terse. He doesn't pander to the media like most coaches do. He gives them...
nothing. He's had the same MO since his Cleveland days. He doesn't want to be there. He doesn't want anyone to know what was going on in his mind before, during, or after the game. He feels teams may use the info against him down the road. What is so classless about this statement:
"It was a very tough football game against a good team. You've got to give the Colts credit; they made more plays than we did, and they deserved to win. It was about as competitive a game as you can get. They just made a couple more plays than we did."
Dude acts the same way after a win as he does with a loss. He is consistent. He doesn't like answering some reporter's stupid questions. He feels it's none of their business. He doesn't like singling out players accomplishments or gushing over his team after a win... so why would you expect him to sing the praises of his opponent and its players after a loss.
Why must all Chargers fans be such faggots?

Mace wrote:A little perspective, morons. Forty years ago, blacks were considered to be "too stupid, too lazy, etc" to play quarterback in Division I football, let alone become a head coach in college or the NFL. Tony Dungy played QB at Minnesota at a time when black QBs were scarce and the same was true when he was seeking a head coaching job. So who could blame him if he has a little chip on his shoulder? He's had a lot to overcome and has accomplished more than any white or black person posting on this board could ever hope to accomplish in their lifetime. Doug Williams became the first black QB to play in a Super Bowl and, since that time, there have been a number of AA quarterbacks in both the college and NFL games. Because of that (and it was a very big deal at the time) we have very few people questioning a black QB's abilities based upon his race, only his performance. If anyone here thinks that Dungy hasn't had to overcome the same stereotypes to obtain his head coaching position, then you would be sadly mistaken. He overcame it to become a Div.I QB at Minnesota and he did it again when getting a shot at a head coaching job. The fact this year's SB will match two African-American coaches speaks volumes as to the lack of opportunities given to black coaches over the past 30 years and, even though times have changed and AA coaches are now given more opportunities, it would be sad for this event to become nothing more than an answer to a trivia question in the year 2037. It's never happened before because African-Americans weren't given the opportunity to coach during the long history of the NFL. I wonder how many black Vince Lombardi's never got the chance to become coaching legends? Only a complete fucking moron would deny that racism has, throughout the history of the league, denied qualified black men the opportunity to succeed in coaching/management positions in the NFL, so feel free to disagree and out yourself as a fucking moron.
Mace
Nice take.

Racism is part of the discussion and is what makes two African-American head coaches facing each other in the Super Bowl a significant event. Try following the discussion, MGO.
Then it would probably be pretty easy for you to name just one single racial barrier Dungy broke this season to get to the Super Bowl. Go ahead, link me up.
Hey, there's no doubt the dude had to face some challenges in the past, but the fact is, he has been an established, well-respected head coach, not black coach, but HEAD COACH, in this league for years.

Two days before the game he and his family were going to eat at Cracker Barrel, but they had to wait a real long time. Almost made Dungy late for a team meeting.
