Oakland's problems are Oakland's problems.
Moss' problems are now YOUR problems.
Make sure you see that distinction.
Yeah but on the QE2 (New England) you have a much better chance of shining up that old deck chair and returning it to a form that resembles its former luster than you do leaving it sit in the debris field of the the Titanic (Oakland).

Are you trying to convince me, or yourself?
I already said I thought it was a good trade for both teams involved. I just don't think Moss is going to "come back" as much as you seem to think. I think his lack of technique catches up to him as his skills diminish. Exactly when that is, well, that is anyone's guess. But I think we've seen the beginning of that process, and not an anomaly based on bad conditions or lack of desire.

Neither, just stating the obvious. Lets put it this way: ANY player in the league thats interested in doing more than just collecting a check and/or wiping his ass with the field would rather play in New England than Oakland. In case you hadn't noticed its just 'lose' these days with the Raiders.

The ability to make the playoffs for the last few years is enticing to be sure-but in this day and age of parity, ANY fucking team can make a run in any given year-just as teams who were once dominant can fall flat on thier face (When Belichick leaves after this season, Patfan will know this feeling once again).
Honestly, I cant name one other fucking reason a player would want to live in that shithole known as New England. I'd sure as hell want to live in a place that is warm and sunny with hot ass tanned women........not a frozen fucking chernobyl where packs of pasty fat pork loin mutant women roam free and graze heartily. Dude, no millionaire player lives in Oakland.
Frisco, San Rafael, Santa Cruz, ect. are ALL right there. All kick ass in thier own way and are a million times better than where God spread his asscheeks and what came out ended up being called New England.

New England is not a state. But that is neither here nor there... I take it you've never been to the Maine coast during summer, The Cape, Boston, Lake Winnipesauke, Boston, Foxwoods, Boston, Mohegan Sun, Stow during the winter, Newport, Fenway, The Garden, Kangamangus Highway, Killington, The Vineyard, Modnadnock, Mt Washington, just to name a few places...
So... it snows and it's cold 3 months out of the year. It's cool. I am Irish. I don't like the heat.
You'll always hate NE because your team got fucked out of a possible Super Bowl a few years back. I can't wait until Feb 3, 2008... when Moss walks off that field in Glendale a Super Bowl champion. It's okay. Hate on, bro.

Let's look at his choices- restructre and still get a base of 3 million with incentives... or get cut and get some shit contract from a crap team.

Rack that. Moss stood to get exactly ZERO dollars from the Raiders this year. That he got 3.5 million out of the Pats represents a 3.5 million dollar increase.

If he got released some other team would have paid him alot more then 3.5 million. TO got released last year and Dallas gave him a contract and signing bonus. There was no signing bonus for Moss. He took a pay cut to come here no matter how you spin it......

First of all, it's 3 million. And to date, he's gotten exactly ZERO POINT ZERO million. If he's cut before the season, they don't owe him a dime.
Furthermore, do you think he would have gotten more or less than 3 million for one year on the open market?

Of course I'm assuming that even Randy Moss

I think had Moss not agreed to this trade he would have been left to rot by Davis until Davis damn well felt like releasing him. Which would have been right before Moss' 07 salary became guaranteed by being on the opening week roster. Which would have put Moss behind the 8-ball in terms of negotiating a deal with a new team. By being agreeable enough to allow Davis to get something for him, Moss likely added at least 2 million to his bottom line this year.

So what you're saying is... someone would have signed him to a ONE MILLION dollar contract? That's it?
That's a crock of shit. Look at the dollars being thrown around this off-season... teams are
overspending this year like never before. Huge salary cap increase much? He would have gotten paid... by someone. They probably would have sucked ass. But not the point, is it?
Some team would have ponied up at least 3 million for one year.
And there'd be a large return on that investment, don't you think? Didn't Moss have the highest selling jersey the year he went to Oakland? Maybe his new team would see an increase in attendence? If nothing else, he's a marketable trainwreck just waiting to happen...

The problem is, by the time Al would have released Moss, that money would have already been spent on other players. Why do you think there are so many roster bonuses in contracts these days? It's so that guys like Joey Porter can get themselves out on the open market SOONER rather than LATER. By the time Moss hit the open market, he would have been forced to accept a smaller base salary with incentives.
And there'd be a large return on that investment, don't you think? Didn't Moss have the highest selling jersey the year he went to Oakland? Maybe his new team would see an increase in attendence? If nothing else, he's a marketable trainwreck just waiting to happen...
An increase in attendance? Are you fucking retarded? Did you see last year's attendance figures? One of the worst drawing teams in the NFL HAD RANDY MOSS PLAYING FOR THEM.
As for jersey sales, that's yet another activity that requires preseason hype. How the fuck is Reebok supposed to make huge numbers of new Randy Moss jerseys when they don't even know where he's going to be playing? How are they supposed to ramp up marketing and distribution one week before the start of the regular season?
Seriously dude, you're reaching way too hard.

I laughed.
You can almost
hear phillyfan licking thier chops at the inevitable T.O. meltdown that will be occuring in the NE locker room.
It was said before, but T.O.
never dogged it or quit on the field like Moss has since his entry into the league. It can also be argued that Philly had a just as stable a foundation for T.O. as Moss does for his 'new' start.
Its been beat to death over the last few days and im already sick of talking about it, but i'll say it again: if NE cant get anything out of Moss, nobody can.
Now everyone get your asses in my "Grade your team's draft" thread and let us know who we need to be looking out for in the future.

Maybe.. maybe not. For all the stupid shite TO does- he gives 125% on the field all the time. Moss is renowned for NOT doing that...

He dogged it like no other in Oaktown. I thought this has been established a thousand times already (in this very thread even)?
If he doesn't turn on the jets, it isn't because he can't. It's because he doesn't fucking want to. That's the problem here - what's between his ears, not his declining body.

Just a few questions MGO. Are you Randy Moss? Are you good friends with Randy Moss? How do you know Moss still has it? Did you watch him run this 40 time? Noone knows if this guy has it or not, so to speak of his ability will have to wait till he dons a patriots uniform.

BTW-his first year in Oaktown he played as hard as he can (which isnt saying much) and still got caught from behind

What the fuck makes
anyone think this guy isnt going to do the same damn thing
again?. His "on field behavior" isnt seen as a

What, is Belicheck going to re-teach him how to stop slouching and half assing plays to tip off the D when he knows the ball isnt going to go to him? He's been doing that his whole damn career for fucks sake. At 30, he's not

It hasn't happened very often in his player-dealing history, but Al got hosed BADLY both coming AND going on the Moss deal.
That's one guy Al Davis never should have gotten goo goo eyed over.
Thinking with your dick is NEVER a good idea.
I was wrong about a few things.
It was my belief that Moss was either damaged goods, or just plain near the end of the rope.
It was also my belief that Brady wouldn't be able to develop a trusting relationship with him.
Both concepts look pretty silly with 20/20 hindsight.
All of that said, let's wait and see how the post-season goes for Randy and the Cheatriots.
I think a very bitter ending awaits them.

Moss' value goes way beyond his individual acheivements. I know Brady could be credited for some of this too, but the attention Moss requires on his "Go" routes just makes Welker, Stallworth, and Gaffney that much better. See the trick play from yesterday.
The duhs just got screwed in that deal by none other than Moss himself. We should have a name for this when a player doesn't try just so he can be traded to a better situation. I think we should call it "The Sheffield"
