wow, you guys are an awesome conference!

you guys switched to a updated, more sleek helmet logo (maybe) and definitely to the shoulder stripes in about 01. though it was billed as "retro", no?

Memo to Hawk: Just cause it worked once, don't mean it will work again. Get your team to catch the ball, throw the ball, stop turning over the ball, stop opposing offenses on third down, and they might win a few more games. As it stands now, they are only going to look in style when opposing Big-12 teams stomp the shit out them.
Hawk's act is on the verge of wearing pretty thin among a lot of people i know in Boulder. he'll get a 3rd year for sure, and recruiting sparked, but we'll see. i personally think if his future at CU is tied to his current assistant staff....he's in trouble. they looked lost in conference games last year. i think he might make it work, but he needs better people around him than WAC "masterminds". take your Boise-Fiesta Bowl shot, if you will.
he has some quotes from last year that ring hilarious and sad: about Boise Mojo meets Pac-10 (OC Helfrich) scoreboard lighting up the Big XII in 06. and all their special teams schemes were basically from outer space (and CU sucked out loud on special teams last year). the learning curve better be pretty high for Hawk. he talks a good game.
CU has been a Nike school since at least the mid 90's.

This makes the Top 10?
Looks quite a bit like Michigan's uniforms, except that the stripes and shade of blue are different. Why put Delaware at #5, and leave Michigan off the list altogether?

i just assumed that the faux michigan unis were included for not being their own.
though, i think Princeton is in the mix for having claim to those helmets. much like OU has Yale and UNC for Boomer Sooner and Texas has "I've been working on the Railroad".

most of the uniforms on the list are decent to good.
sure syracuse, oregon, wyoming are top fivers, but air force has decent gear.
god, some of these colleges need to start teaching some journalism in their colleges

Yep. Horrible fucking list. Wyoming's brown unis, though "ugly" in terms of traditional standards, are sort of the appeal. Utah's, though "modernized" don't look bad at all to me. AF's are a little hokey but aren't offensive. And dipping outside of D1 was pretty weak.
And if you're gonna rip Clemson's unis, rip any combo involving the purple pants or Orange on Orange. The orange jerseys with white pants is actually a good look for Clemson.
Idiots.

So there's no arguement that Oregon's are the friggin worst. Good.
The list isn't all that bad.
ISU's uni's belong in the arena league.
ND's greens need to be retired. They have a solid tradition with the gold,white,blue...or varying combinations of each, no need for the greenies.
Not sure why anyone cares about Rhode Island.
Delaware is being penalized for lack of originality. Must be, cuz clearly UM's uni's rate near the top.
Wyoming is fucked because they use only poopie, and pee-pee colors, nuff said.
I don't mind Cuse's old school uni's. Except for the fact that they would look much better outside, in the elements. Jim Muthafuggin Brown didn't do his magic in no dome.
AF's duds....who cares?
The question is, if it was your list, who should be on it?

ISU needs to get away friom the ketchup and mustard look.
cuse's new uni are hilarious (but not as hilarious as Greg Robinson)

Disagree. The green unis have a solid tradition as well. Personally, I like the greens. And there's a reason 'SC fan hates them.

There's retro, and then there's way beyond retro. SU's unis belong in the latter category. They look like something that SU should have been sporting during the Roosevelt Administration.
Teddy Roosevelt, that is.
Having said that, those uniforms would improve considerably if they lost the shoulder stripes.

My thoughts exactly. There's certainly a place for Clemson on this list. But the pic on the list actually showed one of their better looking combinations. Orange on orange, purple on purple, or any combination of orange and purple would have merited a spot on the list.
WolverineSteve wrote:The question is, if it was your list, who should be on it?
Imho, the most glaring omission from the list is Virginia Tech, based on the color scheme. Maroon and orange just isn't a good combination.
Also, count me among those who are not a fan of teams using black unis where black is not part of the basic color scheme. For that reason, I would have included Northwestern and Louisville (black unis only) on the list. You could throw in Dook's black basketball unis for good measure, even though it's a football list.

the helmet logo was changed in about 92 by Larry Smith, he was fired that season and robinso went back to the original logo which is still on the helmet. The stripe on the jersey was changed in 01 back to the original stripe on the USC jerseys. The only other changes were the cardinal facemasks that were used for a few years in the 90s and last year they went to a flat gold pant.

1. Oregon (home combos 1-47, away combos 1-47)
2. Kal's piss colored jersey
3. New Oregon State uniforms
4. Tennesee away unis
5. Oklahoma State (horrible font)

OK state has always been an eye-sore. they had Tennessee rip offs for a while and all the new logo/script stuff they have is gawdawful.
in the homer conference, again, i've always thought KU has had sucko unis. they were better when they went away from the trad. school color to the darker blue....in yet another NY Giants rip-off.
in the early 80's, Iowa State had players with *two different colored* helmets on the field at the same time. red for seniors and yellow for others, as i recall it was horrible.
http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/
*3 During at least 1983 and 1984, and possibly in 1985 and 1986 also, at least some players wore an "inverted" version of this helmet (red shell, yellow logo, one yellow stripe, with red facemask). Most sources indicate that the red helmets were "awarded" to certain players for good performances, and I believe this is probably accurate, though I have not seen many photographs showing both helmet colors in use at the same time (I have seen some). As a helmet design used by less than half of the team, this design does not meet the current criteria for graphic representation at this web site (my concern being that there may be hundreds of such single-player or a few-players designs, particularly from the 1960s).

Michigan fan ripping Delaware for not being original? There's some irony for ya!
