Who gives a fuck? Nobody watched it believing it represented any real life depiction of the mafia. It was a fictional show, well written, well directed, and superbly acted by believable characters.

Here's some real life Sopranos action, complete with a crew of clowns, rats getting whacked, and a wiseguy rolling on his own brother.

I have--it sucked. Who says that's good writing? It was straight up soap opera. Moreover, it ignored the ACTUAL animal-like character of the mobsters--as more accurately portrayed in Goodfellas, for example.

Just a few examples of depravity depicted on the Sopranos

1. The episode where Paulie snuffs out the little old lady during a botched robbery just so he can fatten up his envelope for Tony.

2. When Ralphie beats his stripper "girlfriend" to death for disrespecting him at the Bing.

3. When Vito shoots the innocent owner of the car he drunkenly plowed into rather than allow him to call the cops.

Those are just the worst ones I can think of in 1 minute. Belive me, there's a whole lot more.

This is a really good explanation of the final scene and what it represents. Its a long read, but worth it.
