This place celebrates predicting people's deaths on a points-reward system, and I believe actually offers prizes to the winner.
I don't participate in that.
So, type that out again, with a straight face, I dare you. Claiming moral high-ground in this place is certainly one of the more douchelike activities I've ever seen here.
But go ahead...play "champion of morals" on this board... this board, where encouraging Toddowen to kill himself is considered high comedy.
Go ahead, climb up on that high horse, morons. Don't know about you guys, but I HAVE lost a family member to a vehicle accident within the last month... go ahead and tell me all about the repercussions of what follows.
Go right ahead and lecture... I'm all ears.

MtLR, wolfie and all the rest of you sensitive types, remember where the fukk you are. Wolfie, you want thought process? You come to the wrong place. This place prides itself on our depravity and complete lack of taste or decency.
Look, when I first heard this story, my initial thought was fukkk, that sukks hard, but, I will admit that when I read that this was a group of priviledged little cheerleader types, I must admit to a slight lessening of my sadness.
Is it because I didn't get any of that rich cheerleader tang? Maybe. Wasn't a whole lotta rich cheerleader ass at good ole hartford public high school.
Is there anybody out there that feels this way? I hate to be in a club with dinsy all by myself. Makes me feel kinda dirty.

Some of my most hard-working, conscientious, and bright students happened to be cheerleaders. It's funny to stereotype every damned one of them as backstabbing, shallow, anti-intellectual children of privilege, but like most stereotypes, it's a shortcut to actual thinking. If you want to stick to stereotypes, as a "frat boy," I'm supposed to be little more than a cheap-beer-swilling, gang-raping loser who got a job only through daddy's connections. We all know how true THAT stereotype is, eh?
One of the smartest women I know - a successful businesswoman - was a former high school cheerleader. She also happens to be my wife.
Long story short: five kids with promising lives ahead of them died tragically and needlessly. To demean their deaths because they happened to be cheerleaders is -ironically- more shallow than the stereotype folks are dredging up. Way to go, assholes.
Way to interject reason and perspective into all this.
Just as an aside, I'm not necessarily looking forward to going out in Fairport this weekend. Nobody I know directly got killed in that crash, but I'm certain that more than a few people I know around town either knew the girls or knew their parents. Something tells me I'll be hearing their stories this Friday night.
BTW: You're not a "cheap-beer-swilling, gang-raping loser who got a job only through daddy's connections", you're a "patchulli doused, non showering, bong smoking hippie with no future". Don't you remember? ;)

Yup, pathetic.
What's pathetic is that you're spinning like a frigging dervish. You decided to devalue their lives based solely on the fact that they were upper-middle class, attractive girls who also happened to be cheerleaders. Then, when a few folks happened to lodge a protest or two, you first went to the "dammit people, I had a vehicular tragedy close to me" card and then to the "dammit people, it's a smackboard" card. The former marks you a flaming hypocrite and the latter marks you as sad.
I'll be the first to admit that my being an advisor to a bunch of kids who just graduated and are the same age as the kids in the accident makes me biased....but I can't help but think what a pathetic, sad, little tard someone has to be to comment that it's no loss that these kids died, just because they happened to be successful, popular kids. If anyone
honestly feels that way, then fuck you. You're a waste of skin and a sad excuse for a human. If you're just doing it for comedy...then ha-frigging-ha. Go to hell.

Does the acronym "KYOA" mean anything to you, MTLR?
It should.
You deride me for smacking on some dead chicks I don't know, now will I ever, nor did anyone here.
Then, you use me mentioning my own family tragedy as a basis to ridicule me.
Hello?
Nevermind that the entire reason I brought up my own loss went straight over your head. (which I notice I recieved no T&P's...not that I wanted any, but people sure line up to say "wow what a tragedy for those poor girls and their family," even though none of theose families read this board).
I highly recommend not looking in the mirror any time soon... if your vision is working right, you won't like what you see -- the very hypocrite you accuse me of being.
It's OK for you to crack on me for losing a relative, yet if I make cracks about someone nobody here knows, I'm a bad guy?
Are you fucking shitting me?
There's definitely some people with some strange perceptions about internet interaction. Get a grip, tard.
If you were on some quest for decency, you would have shut the fuck up when I mentioned that I knew about losing relatives in an accidents, since it just happened to me. But instead, you used it as a chance to take a swipe. If this is so real to you, what exactly does that say about you?

I'm not trying to grab "internet cred" by belittling the tragedy of their deaths. You did. And when that didn't work out so well for you, you tried flashing the "personal tragedy" bit to bail.
I highly recommend not looking in the mirror any time soon... if your vision is working right, you won't like what you see -- the very hypocrite you accuse me of being.
Not even close.
You demeaned the deaths of a set of girls SOLELY on the assumed shallowness of their lives as upper-middle class cheeleaders.
When you got a little heat, you went to the precise tactic you called OTHERS out for in another thread.
There's definitely some people with some strange perceptions about internet interaction. Get a grip, tard.
Sure,
I'm the tard. Aren't you the one who obsesses over every jot and tittle of punctuation, to the point of debating over whether the comma or period goes inside or outside of quotation marks...and whether your little rule applies on this side of the Atlantic or the other? The one who is known for his anal-retentive obsession for grammar and brings it up -apropos of nothing- in the middle of threads? The one who, when attempting tardsmack on others when Peter Boyle died, got rightfully crucified for his idiocy and then tried to paint the REST OF THE BOARD as idiots for daring to know that the man was a main character on one of the most popular network shows of the last decade?
Yeah. Right. Shining example of someone who has a "grip."
With your obsession with beer snobbery, the U&L, the 'net, and punctuation smack, you just come off as yet another frustrated English major Master's dropout. Christ, with those credentials, any minute now I expect you to ask me if I have my "Borders Rewards Card" handy. Get the fuck over yourself.

MikeDumberThanALabRat has truly gone off the deep end.
And frankly, there's certain people here that could have posted the same thing I did, and got racks for it by certain people. When myself, or someone like Toddowen, or any other poster who portrays(might wanna look that word up, MtLR) themself as an obnoxious asshole on here posts that, they suddenly become a horrible person.
Making light of tragic deaths is hardly some radical precedent around these parts, eh?
But you have the "I know that area, and that family is feeling badly" set.
Well no shit, Fucking Sherlock. Doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that the loved ones of the victim are hurting right about now.
Tell me, retards -- would you have this same outpouring of sympathy for the deaths of strangers if Paris Hilton went head-on into a semi? Would you be crying a river for the Hilton family? Would you jump on anyone who made light of the death on this board?
If you said "yes," you're a fucking backpedalling liar. This board would celebrate Paris' death with a ten page pile-on, and I doubt there would be one objection.
And no one here knows the Hiltons. And no one here knows Buffy's family.
Get a fucking grip, losers. Read posts, not screennames. That's why so many decry the dowfall of these boards -- posts are judged by the nick that posted them, rather than their content.
BFD, some rich chicks died by playing chicken with a semi.
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - A 13-month-old baby was found by his father in the family's Klamath Falls swimming pool and immediately started resuscitation efforts.
Elijah Groves-Vercuysse was taken to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland but he did not survive the night.
The toddler was found by his father face-up in the swimming pool Wednesday afternoon. There was a baby fence surrounding the pool, but the child somehow got through the fence.
The father, Joel, was in the house. He found the baby in the pool and immediately began rescue breathing.
Upon their arrival, rescue crews took over CPR efforts and rushed the baby to Sky Lakes Medical Center. He was later flown to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
On Wednesday, June 27, Dean Sumpter recognized something peculiar at his neighboring property on South Central Point Road: his neighbor's vehicle had not moved for a considerable amount of time.
Conscientiously, Sumpter alerted the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office patrol division, who responded to the 37 acre parcel of land to investigate the matter. Darkness was blanketing the area and prohibited patrol personnel from conducting a thorough search of the property Wednesday evening.
Thursday morning, CCSO Deputy Shellans resumed responsibility to complete searching on the acreage and located an ATV, equipped with a spraying unit, on its side in a creek that meanders through this property. Next to the ATV in the creek was the deceased body of a male subject, believed to have been born in May, of 1927.
It appears the male subject was working, spraying and operating an ATV at the time of his death.
Apparently, the ATV came too close to the bank of the creek and tipped over into about 2 feet of water.
Investigators are under the impression the deceased has been at the location since the 20th of June.
The Clackamas County Medical Examiners Office has not determined a precise cause of death although the circumstances do not appear to be suspicious. At present, the victim has been identified, and efforts are being made to notify relatives.
That enough, or do you need more fuel to go have a good cry?

I've already made it clear that my advising and mentoring a set of kids who are the same age as the girls in the accident made me biased toward the issue...
Anyone who tries for a second to call me a hypocrite for being offended while allegedly claiming that I indulge in the same crap is a fucking liar. I've never thought that jokes about kids dying were funny. I never dug the jokes about those two black kids that Annie kept putting in her posts. That's why I never indulged in them. Hell, I'm only chiming in about the Fairport kids because it happened locally, has been in the news all day for the last two days, and -oh yeah- I do know people from Fairport and who teach at the high school from which the kids graduated.
People offing themselves in acts of blatant stupidity (e.g. the kind of crap that gets you a mention in the "Darwin Awards") is one thing. Old celebrities finally kicking after having decades of fame and fortune has always been fair game. OTOH, a set of kids fresh out of high school -barely having begun their lives- burning to death after a horrific crash that is currently being attributed to driver inexperience (overcompensating after passing a vehicle) is, IMNSHO, in a different area. If you can't see the difference than you're a fucking moron. If you choose to ignore the difference, than fine, but don't for a second try to claim that I have to believe that all deaths are the same level of tragedy and that everyone should buy into your view. I do have a right to be offended. I don't have a right to censor you, nor have I attempted to do so.
Anyone who honestly believes that "anything goes" with regard to deathsmack should go ahead and do some comedy routines about the deaths of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. Go ahead - pick a choice couple of young men and women who lost their lives in Bush's war and do some "internet stand-up" about how they died, their economic status, their race/religion, etc. I'm guessing that the whole "lighten up, Stuart Smalley" crowd won't find much support for their "all things are fair in deathsmack" claim. No fair trying to claim an exemption on that turf due to their being soldiers - "anything goes," remember?
Everyone has a line they've drawn, whether or not they'll admit it. I don't find kids dying to be funny. Period. But that's just me.
This topic is being beaten to death - I have my view, other folks have theirs. So be it.
