I've never tried the poo coffee (I also saw the Food Network show on it) and probably wouldn't if offered. I'll try just about anything once, but have to draw the line somewhere. If that makes me a culinary pansy, so be it.

Best coffee I've had to date is Diedrich's, which is a chain in SoCal. While I've had some other individual coffees that have been better than some at Diedrich's, their overall selection is out-freaking-standing. Like most good coffee places, they started out as coffee roasters and moved on from there.

Check them out here: http://www.diedrich.com

Tell you what, Dins, why not try posting a few and let’s see what happens….
Anyone with any sort of grilling experience can grill a steak.

Is that right? This – pearl (guffaw) - from an Unwashed & Leftist Deadhead that jocks a George Foreman grill to burn fish?

Ever fuck a woman, Dins? Ever drive a car? Bet that ain’t a Maserati up on jacks out back of your crib, or a roofied-up Elle McPherson sprawled out across your waterbed’s Duck sheets. And even money sez that you ain’t never tasted a really good steak either.

Sorry, pal, but anyone who advocates preparing anything on an electric grill :meds: has absolutely zero credibility regarding anything remotely barbecued or grilled in this forum. Go wow Luth with specs for police cruisers. You are clearly in over your head in this Forum.

Oh, and yes, Dins, I will continue to laugh away.
I realize that your region is legendary for spawning mentally inferior specimens, who think the ability to toss a slab of beef on the que makes them special.
So which is it, Mensa-dale? Barbecue or Grilling? The techniques are different, Dumbass. Tell me you knew....
But... there are some very fine points to roasting coffee beans. Matter of fact, there's periodicals dedicated to this very subject(and you'll never guess which town their #1 roater is in, and which town the rank as the #1 roasting city?).
What?! No link?! Pray tell: Just where might that #1 “roater" of yours be listed?
[scrollwheel wrought by clavinsdale boring diatribe]And see... there's a reason for it.

See, here Out West, we actually have this stuff called "culture." I know this is difficult for a Flatlander to understand, but DO try. This city was once a very lawless place. Became so out of control in the early 20th Century, that things swung to the opposite end of the spectrum over the following decades. Some of the "societal control" laws involved tight liquor regulations. Matter of fact, until about 35 years ago, a business couldn't serve alcohol where live music was being played(not that there weren't plenty of "backroom" R&B clubs operating outside of the law, but that didn't fly Downtown). But see, with that thirst for "culture" that eludes you clowns so badly, the show must go on. So music clubs did their thing, only with a twist -- people got drunk as hell at the bar/outside before the show, and the venue would serve very strong, dark roasted coffee to keep everyone alert and whatnot during the show... and generated some revenue doing it. Some where in the early 70's(or thereabouts), that silly law was repealed/modified, and the nightcluc scene took on a whole new look. But not before the "coffee shop culture" was cemented.[/scrollwheel wrought by clavinsdale boring diatribe]
Lemme get this straight: Your locals were precluded from enjoying a few pops down at the Hudson Brothers show and this somehow equates to your Neolithic liquor laws spawning the rise of “culture”?

If you say so.

BTW: R&B? Most likely imported from Memphis, Chicago, or Kansas City. Wiki is strangely bereft of great Portland R&B references….
Getting it yet? Here, I'll simplify things for you -- anyone, in any state in this country, can prepare a steak that's every bit the equal of KC's finest.
Oh, I suppose in theory that might be true, had you:

a) Access to quality beef. (you don't)
b) A grill without a plug. (you don't have one of these either)
c) Working knowledge of what the fuck to do with said steak. (see any previous Dinsdale post on this topic)
...But nowhere else roasts the quality of coffee beans that my town does... or they have shown no ability to do so, anyway.
Guess that means that these guys and these guys need to chuck their awards and accolades. Why? Well, apparently ‘cuz Dinsdork sez so….
So frankly, your point, like a Flatlander with anything besides 3.2% pissbrew down his gullet, falls flat on its face.

Unlike Portland and its archaic liquor laws, I can buy the finest brew in the Flyover in its naturally brewed 5%+ potency in any grocery-, convenience-, OR liquor store in Missouri – As opposed to the urinated 3.2% version of "Bilgeport" found down at your local 7-11….
BTW -- how's that "hot, DRY" summer working out for you? You know... that "dry" month in the middle of summer, where your average rainfall nearly equals that of our wettest month of the winter "wet season"?
Ah. As if deck screw-, knitting needle-, and water treatment systems critiques weren't enough, now you’re a meteorologist too?

And just as accurate, from what I’ve read.

I realize I’m waaaay out on a limb here, but I’m gonna guess that you somehow missed that little 8.5” disparity in favor of Portland annual rainfall stat.

As for hot summers… How many heat-related deaths was that again in Portland?

You might wanna try mixing in a bit of perspective before opening your cakehole, Dorksdale. Despite your posturing, twenty straight days of 95+ temps and trace rain categorize the Flyover as hot and dry. What rain we DO get is in ark-building proportions, and not the hemp-nurturing gentle rainfall that you are so accustomed.

Regardless, I’m sure, as the Flyover busies itself feeding the world and diverting grain spillage to second-rate U&L brew operations, I’m sure that still makes us too stupid to grow PC redwoods or decent hops in your eyes.

BTW, nice Forrest Gump drop on the Flyover. So which Gump is it, Dins?

The football star Gump?
The war hero, Medal of Honor recipient Gump?
The international ping-pong champion Gump?
The national celebrity Gump?
The shrimp-boat mogul Gump?
The Apple Computers-investing millionaire Gump?
The inter-continental running Gump?
The devoted husband and loving father Gump?

Stupid is as stupid does, Dinsdork.

Try to keep up.

We just brought home some just-grown, just-picked, just-roasted coffee beans from Kona.

It's the best coffee I've ever had.

pp,

As I said before...
IndyFrisco wrote:Personally, I drink Kona on a regular basis. I have it shipped and grind my own each day. I wont claim it as the best coffee in the world, but it is the best I have ever had and I love it. Not sure if it is as good as the coffee beans that grow on the trees God planted in the U&L, but it is good stuff.

Indy...

I always knew Kona coffee was good... this Kona coffee in particular, from a small growing/roasting outfit in some region that starts with an H (that I can't ever remember) overlooking the Kona coast, is the best I've ever had. It's AMAZING. I've given up my caffeine moratorium in favor of half a cup a day because it's TOO GOOD not to drink.

It was really cool touring the place and seeing how the entire process (from tree to cup) works!

I went to the Kauai Coffee Company in Kauai when I was there. Was pretty cool, but they didn't have an actual tour. Would have liked to see that.

Funny you guys bring this up today...

This morning, I had no premium-grade coffee(as mentioned, the dark, oily roasts wreak havoc on my innards these days. There was a time they were my main sourse of nourishment, for many years).

It was basic, plain, out-of-the-big-can stuff.

And I thought to myself... "self, that's some pretty darn pedestrian coffee you're about to cook up. Isn't there some way you could spice it up a little, Self?"

And then, it hit me...

"Hey, I know!!! I'll just do it like them caleefornee-ans do it on the internet."

So, before I brewed the coffee grounds, I first went and shoved them up my cat's ass for a half hour.

Let me tell you... you guys are sure enlightened. Best cup of coffee ever, although I'm not sure my cat feels the same way.

I was thinking about trying to rope a squirrel or coon from the yard before tomorrow morning, although I'm worried about the potential for "gamey" flavors coming from a non-domesticated animal. Any advice you shit-eaters could offer on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

I received one of these last year for Christmas. (Winter Hooraw for you non-believers) I roast my own coffee about every three days and freaken love the fresh taste. Buy some decent green beans and you can have an awesome cup of Joe every day. Kicks the shit out of the U&L corporate sheep dens.

Sorry Dims, it doesn't take a genius to roast coffee. Even you can do it.

You got a line on some raw beans that have some brown on it? Some of us don't like to kick the shit off them first.

So...do they deliver this poopy coffee to your doorstep in flaming brown bags?

Fire-roasted, just stamp out, grind, and brew away...

Yup, same process for roasting the best peanuts and corn you'll ever eat, too.
