several of the top5 had trap games

oregon had 3 trap games @arz, @ucla, Osu
KU ISU
OU Tech, OSU
MU KST

it wouldnt suprise me if all of them lost atleast 1 game before BCS is announced, with Oregon already losing one of those games.

LSU trap game is SEC title game, they should demolish any of the winners from other division, should is the key answer.

Sad statement for KSU that they have gone from preseason even-money or fave at home to "trap game" after getting bitchslapped by our sorry asses. Judging by the spread I think a lot of folks are smelling trap-game as-well. My picks are shit, I'll be the first to admit. But I think both Mizzou and KU will be able to pull-away at some point in second half and end any upset plans. OSU has a shot against OU but losing Bowman definitely hurts

KU & MU both took care of business - so it's on next week: The biggest game in the history of Arrowhead.

Also will guarantee, If OU wins out - the winner of the Big 12 title game will play for the BCS title and Possibly 3 Big 12 teams in BCS games

what I meant is there is a possibility that MU, KU and OU could all end up in a bowl series game (orage, Sugar, Fiesta, etc.)
Unless there's some rule I'm not familiar with that limits how many teams from a conference can go to a major bowl

It's a given now, provided OU doesn't stumble vs. TT tonight, that the winner of the Big 12 championship will play in the BCS title game

While that may be a stretch - I've seen many a Chiefs game that one might consider "bigger" in the grand scheme of things. Depends on your perpespective, I guess.

But "Armagedden", as it's being termed around here, is certainly going to be one of the most passionately hyped games these parts have ever seen.

To say that I'm all geeked up for this tilt would be an understatement. I don't have tickets, but it'd almost be worthwhile to go out and tailgate just to soak in the atmosphere.

i agree. i went with a buddy to LoDo in Denver for game 3 of the WS, just to check the scene and watch the game at Denver's venerable jazz club/dive El Chapultapec about 3 blocks from Coors Field....it was a great time. i bet Camerohead would be the same....and CFB/old timey Big 8 rivals on the national stage>Colorado Rockies.

have you been to any afc title games at arrowhead?
Exactly

Closest previous "big games" at arrowhead would have been the playoff wins vs. Oak & Pitts (man thats a long fraking time ago) and the Big 12 Championships w/ K-State

This trumps those.

Maybe someday we'll start the BBQ Bowl

KU is still an unknown

They have played noone. And comparing who they have beat is pointless.

they crushed ISU, MU played close game

KU had tight games vs KST and CU
MU pounded both

they both clobbered Nebraska, but i think that nubs team had virtually thrown in the towel. took KSU to get the going.

It's up to MU defense. They have to step up like in Nubs,CU, and Tech games. Offense will be Ok, talib takes Maclin, franklin and alexander expose the secondary. And they will have problems with Rucker and Coffman.

yikes, it should be a goodin

ps they are selling beer at the game, could get ugly in stands and outside after game

Bace, the build-up to the event is interesting. The game itself should be epic.

In the past, KU vs MU never needed much hype, regardless of each's record and the relatively low national stakes involved. The ancient rivalry and the sheer disdain these two school have for each other was sufficient to create intense passion from both groups.

But this year is unprecedented, and it may never happen again, at least not in football. And with the game being moved for the first time since WWII to an ostensibly neutral KC site... the timing is just exquisite.

I say "neutral" but I'm also hearing stories whare the KU AD says that it's going to be 70-30 Jayhawk fans. Don't know that I believe that, but whatever. From my perspective, it sure beats playing in Lawrence.

That's just wishful thinking from someone with egg on his face for taking the money and running.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is 60-40 for Mizzou. Stadium arrests should go 50-50, though.

Good points, especially the arrest figures. It does take two to tango.

But you know, I don't really see as how Jayhawk fan should be all that upset with Perkins. Not that the game (at this point) would've needed any added exposure, but when this deal was reached, neither side could've anticipated the potential implications and national interest. It looked like a win/win either way.

If both teams were 6-5 heading into Saturday, having it at Arrowhead would've added greatly to the interest over playing in Lawrence. Or Columbia, as will be the case next year.

Hell, I hope they extend this deal indefinitely to be an annual affair. Both schools have a huge alumni presence in KC. They'll almost be able to name their price for tickets from now on. I heard where students were able to get 'em for $10 each. Tickets that are now selling for $200+

Nobody, and I mean nobody could have envisioned the stakes that this game now holds. I have no problem with the game being at Arrowhead and I don't think Perkins has egg on his face at all........it's not like Kansas is the only team that gave up a home game in this deal.....Mizzou's turn comes next year. I think it's good for the rivalry. Personally, I'd like to see them keep the game in KC on a limited basis. KC for two years and then back to the campuses for two years. That way each class gets to play a big rivalry game on campus and two at a "neutral" site. Regardless there isn't anybody on earth who could've seen these two teams having years like they are having. Quite frankly, I think having the game in KC adds to the flavor of the whole thing. It's pretty cool in my opinion.

Now, on to the game itself. I think Kansas and Missouri are so similar it's scary. The more I watch these teams the more I notice their similarities. They are the same team. Mizzou may be slightly more skilled at the skill positions, Kansas may be slightly better defensively. I don't know how anybody who is unbiased could say with any conviction who is going to win this game. There isn't a bit of difference between these two. The only reason Kansas is favored is because of their record vs. the spread. Vegas has shaded their lines by a two to three points back to Oklahoma State because they know people are riding the streak. I think that's what happened here. Otherwise Vegas makes this a pick 'em game. I really think this is going to be very entertaining, high-scoring game and whoever wins will deserve it. I can't wait for Saturday night..........and whoever said the arrests will be 50/50 is right on the money.......I think there might be a lot of arrests; I really hope the people at Arrowhead keep things under control, it would be sad if this grand stage turned into an embarrassment for both schools.

Regardless, it should be a great game and neither school needs to apologize for the decision to move the game to Arrowhead.

Personally, i am fine with the move. i only say Perkins is embarassed because from the outsiders POV, it looks like he gave away a huge advantage. I'm not so sure that's the case...Daniel is not the kind of guy who gets rattled on the road. Pinkel? Maybe, but i doubt it.

I've said before - if there was ever a year to have this game in Arrowhead, this is it.

I was wondering about that, too. Sounds solid enough to me.

I saw another line where KU was favored by 2.5. Vegas is known to troll vast amounts of betting tards on games like this.

Funny Shit from Jason Whitlock:
JASON WHITLOCK
About that guy next to you …
Just like the combatants in tonight’s Armageddon at Arrowhead, Kansas Citians need a scouting report/tip sheet on all the Missouri and Kansas football fans who have descended on our great city.

Seriously, if we’re going to survive this historic football clash, we need to know who we’re dealing with and what to expect.

Take, for instance, you get seated next to a Tiger fan hailing from St. Louis. You’re in for a very long night. St. Louis people know nothing about football. Why do you think Dick Vermeil won a Super Bowl in St. Louis, promptly quit and immediately moved to Kansas City to work in an environment where he could be understood and appreciated?

Seriously, most St. Louisans glean their limited football knowledge from digesting the ramblings of Post-Dispatch columnists Bryan Burwell and Bernie Miklasz, two scribes fondly referred to as Dumb and Dumber by football coaches. Personally, I like and enjoy Bernie and Bryan’s work … during baseball season. (For the record, I call ’em Salt and Peppa and consider them friends.)

My point is, don’t be surprised if a Mizzou fan from St. Louis tries to engage you in a debate about Jeremy Maclin’s range vs. Ozzie Smith’s or constantly asks you, “When’s the seventh-inning stretch?”

Plus, St. Louis is a bandwagon town. The only reason we’re dealing with the stench of St. Louis this weekend is because in the season opener the Tigers mopped up the Fighting Illini in a “border war” contest that was largely ignored by the national media because of location.

There’s no need to waste any more space on St. Louis. We’ve been putting St. Louis in its place since 1985. Nope. You need some insight and information on our other visitors.

•Topeka: Police have set up a special hotline number — 816-555-HELP — for Kansas City residents who can’t get Topeka visitors to return home. Topeka guests are harder to get rid of than a well-fed stray cat. My god, are things really that boring and stale in Topeka? As an enticement to go home, I’ve talked Star editors into running a front-page story in Sunday’s paper announcing a special Monday afternoon monster-truck race in Topeka.

•Salina: I know it’s going to be cold tonight, but I wouldn’t wear wool. Someone from Salina could mistake you for a sheep, and things could get very, very ugly. I darn near checked into a Super 8 this weekend just so I could watch Salina folks massacre the free continental breakfast.

•Springfield: Quite possibly the friendliest and most-easy-to-deal-with fans visiting over the weekend. As of late Friday evening, Highway Patrol reported few accidents as Springfield residents caravanned up U.S. 71 North in the longest motorcade of doublewide homes since the closing of I-70 Speedway for the race season. Area grocery stores prepared for the influx of Springfield-area Missouri fans by triple-stocking shelves with Hamburger Helper.

•Columbia: Look, I’m not saying people in Columbia like to drink, but fast-food joints along I-70 are serving Long Island iced teas from their drive-through windows all day today. If you see a car with Boone County plates, hit your brakes and proceed with extreme caution.

•Wichita: Another bandwagon town. If you see a Kansas fan wearing purple, it’s probably someone from Wichita. The city has had a major identity crisis ever since the original White Castle closed shop in 1938. The town’s claim to fame since then has been that Kirstie Alley learned to overeat there.
Hey Adel - KC side is 3 for so far in the HS State Championships yesterday. St. Louis side football has been down for a long time - what's the deal over there? to much Soccer?

My alma mater Belton is playing for it's first state championship today vs. Waynesville - Hilarious that their first Championship game kicks off 30 minutes prior to Mizzou.
