Nice try at a really shitty debate technique.

The "yes or no" is occasionally justified when someone evades a question. That hasn't come close to happening yet. With that in mind, you shouldn't start waving the white flag just yet.

Hmmm.... I wonder if the CFB fans across the country would rather tune in their TV to see an SEC powerhouse play a strong PAC team, or Middle Southwestern Guam University? Hmmmm.....

Wonder which one would garner better ratings, and the increased revenue that goes with that... hmmmm.... I wonder if that would offset the cost of 100 plave tickets to Los Angeles/Eugene/Seattle as opposed to the gas money they spend driving ten minutes up the street.... hmmmm.... tough economic question there.

I'm not saying every SEC team should schedule a H&H with a PAC team every single year. I don't recall anyone ever saying that. It would be nice if they did it say... at least once every 20 years, though -- something that most SEC teams are absolutely TERRIFIED of, apparently.

The AD's in the PAC always covertly leak out the info every time the SEC says "no."

And it happens a lot.

You aren't really trying to defend SEC OOC scheduling, are you? Pile-ons are always fresh. Completely indefensable position.

Looks to me like we've got a winning record against all other conferences. Sorry you spoke out of line.
Auburn is 5-3 vs the Pac 10 BUT they are 0-2 in games played vs the Pac 10 on the road (wasnt the point Mgo was making that Auburn isnt shit when they board a plane?)

Auburn has only ever played 1 game in a Big 10 stadium, a tie with Wisconsin

Vs the Big 12 Auburn is 11-15 (isnt that a losing record?) they have played at Texas 5 times and lost 4 of them, they were 0-1 @ Nebraska, 0-1 at Tamu and 1-0 @ Kansas St but in Big 12 stadiums, Auburn is 2-6.
2-8 on the road vs the Pac and the Big 12, the amazing part is that in 116 years, Auburn has only had the balls to play 11 games on the road vs Big 12, Big 10 and Pac 10 teams. Congrats, by the way, for that 12-0 mark vs the Sun Belt (with every game at home) that's no easy feat.

two to three game each year, per team? why don't the conferences just merge? all we want to see is sec teams play teams from other bcs conferences. you can start with the big xii and work your way westward.

to answer your question about why we're convinced it's the sec who says no, we collectively point to the intersectional games that involve the acc, big east, big ten, big xii, and the pac 10, but curiously not the sec.

Sudden Sam wrote:I sure don't see too many Pac 10 schools playing in Auburn, Gainesville or Columbia either.
the pac 10 is a very successful athletic conference. i imagine that's because their ad's are insanely stupid:

pac 10 ad: we're interested in scheduling a home-and-home with you.

sec ad: how 'bout you just come here twice? make sure it's a down year for you guys.

pac 10 ad: ok.

Nobody ever said the SEC was the worst, just the biggest cowards.

Its easy to point at records when one conference has 4 automatic wins per team because they all stayed at home and played 1aa, d2 or sun belt teams. Every conference will go .500 in conference play, its the out of conference games that determine a conferences strength, the SEC has proven year in and year out that they will not travel for OOC games and then they say they cant afford to do so, what are they spending the money on, all those 35,000 dollar homes and trailers?
Nothing the SEC will ever do in backyard bowl games, regular season win-loss records and rankings will ever make up for their gutless scheduling in the eyes of College Football fans across America. Go play in front of 70-100 thousand hostile fans 2 or 3 thousand miles from campus and then get back to us, other wise, shut up.

We have 2 sons (11 and 10) and have been pretty happy with eachother. Certainly dont have a fiance in a Mississippi trailer or anything. Though the mistaken identity has been fun.

Maybe you should keep grasping at straws there Auburn fan, so far all you have shown is that you hide behind the merits of other teams in the conference to make up for the fact that your team has had no accomplishments worth meriting

what I was suggesting was the amount of travel for OOC games teams do and the distance they go.
Just looked at the first 4 Pac 10 teams alphabetically and over the last 10 years they played 11 out of 33, 9 out of 32, 15 out of 33 and 10 out of 32 OOC games on the road, roughly 35% of their OOC games were played on the road and the teams traveled as far as Zona going to Purdue, ASU going to North Carolina, Cal going to Tennessee and Oregon going to Michigan.
On the other hand you have the SEC playing only 54 of 384 OOC (14%) on the road and the overwhelming majority of those 54 games were in state. And similar to the Pac 10, when they have had to travel further than their states border, the SEC teams have won less than 15% of the games, the Pac has actually had a higher winning percentage after traveling

If you guys are right and the SEC is so superior to everyone else, why dont they travel to other teams stadiums and prove it?

funny you want to point out that USC kick fucked Auburn at Auburn 4 years ago but to argue that point you want to talk about a game 20 years ago.

OK douche, once again you proved the point that when your team has done nothing you want to gravy train on the conferences accomplishments

Auburn is 0-for in OOC road wins in the last 10 years

Auburn is 0-for in road games vs Pac 10 schools

Auburn has won 1 National title in 116 years of football and that was 50 years ago

Fuck dude, youre like Trix without the titles

Short answer (imho): the pollsters give far too much weight to bowl games in the final poll. Yeah, Oregon won their bowl game as well, but it wasn't as high profile a win as Michigan's was.

But M Club is also right. Final polls don't really matter unless there's a controversy over who is #1.

No one else has any claim whatsoever. USC, by far, is the team that should keep their mouth shut. I had at one point decided that, yes, they were a team that had an argument, but the more I think about comparing a team with two triple-overtime losses to a team that lost to a 41 point underdog, HA! USC has less claim to the title than West Virginia, Georgia, or even Kansas!
I see what you're saying, Sam. Having said that, however, and this is not a knock against LSU's season, if I had had a vote in this year's AP poll, I probably would have voted for someone else. I'm not quite sure who, but someone other than LSU.

An agenda-driven vote? Sure, but I submit that's what it will take to get a playoff. And this season was the perfect vehicle for such a vote. Unfortunately, Division 1-A has made it clear that they will only be dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming, if at all.

If the sole criteria of your vote is who deserves to be national champions this year, then who would it be?
Under the rules as they currently exist, LSU.

That being said, this was not an ordinary season. There is a crying need for a playoff right now, and this season, moreso than any other, proved it. That leads to the point that I would not have voted for LSU if I had a vote in the final AP poll.

I see where you're going, but apples and oranges here. As it stands, the coaches are contractually obligated to vote for the winner of the BCS championship game as #1, so there's no risk of LSU losing a national championship just because a few AP voters take the opportunity to vote, essentially, for a playoff.
