Are you implying that Bellotti is the master of not having his team ready to play all 12 games?
Why, you're just a...
Just a...
OK, I have no defense for that.
He's the polar opposite of his counterpart to the north, Mr. Riley, who can't get his team to show up for their cupcake OOC schedule, but manages to always rock the latter part of the conference schedule. Crossbreed the two of them, and you'd either have the greatest coach ever, or the next coach of Duke.

Pryor should talk with Dennis Dixon before he decides...
Since it's been reported that DD was hanging with Darius Miles last weekend, hitting the Beaverton-area tittybars, and Darius got the DJ to play the Oregon Fight Song while the whores got nekkid...

If strippers are a big deal to recruits, Portland (which ain't exactly next door to Eugene, granted) has more per-capita than anywhere else in the country... Bellotti needs to utilize this.

In West Virginia, I believe their version of a "tittybar" involves a peephole drilled in their cousin's outhouse, which is perused while drinking a MGD and shoving dollar bills through the vent holes.

As I said earlier in this thread, I think if I were in his shoes, I'd have gone to UM...but my second choice would have been OSU.
I'm glad this is over. I think this can serve as a soul-searching event for PSU's more faithful Blue KoolAid geysers.

he's definitely no maurice. maurice probably called it the ohio state university.88 wrote:No mo' MO!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...“If everyone’s here,” Pryor said to start the news conference, “University of Ohio State.” He then unzipped his windbreaker to reveal an Ohio State T-shirt and donned an OSU hat. His parents, Craig and Thomasina, also revealed Ohio State shirts.
Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
That phrasing is currently in vogue. Anthony Morelli committed to "The University of Penn State".

Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
should of figured he was a lock for OSU, last week.
OSU offensive coaches were in camp with Missouri, talking to Pinkel and Christiansen about the offense, and taking in the first 3 days of Mizzous spring practice. Even having meetings with Coach Yost(qb coach) about the Qbs and the system.
pryor could be a stud in the spread used by MU,Tech, etc. Spreading out the defense with 7 db's, he could run wild. Something Daniel sorta learned last year, you dont have to pass to win in the spread. Watch the cotton bowl, they used 7-8 db's. The running backs ran all over 7 db's. u have 5 on 3 on the line, and guards on db's downfield. He tried to force at times, when the running game was unstoppable. 3 and out, instead of a long time consuming ground game!
OSu wins again over Michigan.

Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
He had the right to choose wherever he wanted to go and he chose Ohio State...simple as that. I'm not going to crush Rodriguez for not getting a guy that he coveted so much and that seemed to be a nice fit for his system. He isn't last QB prospect that will ever be available that could work in that offense...just try again next year. For now, worry about the guys who are in the Michigan uniforms this coming year. Can Threet be the man for this year? We'll see...
Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
osu wins again? not because of pryor. dude's going to be a freshman. osu still has another year of boeckman, so THE game next year will probably be tight considering umich will have had an entire season at full speed to adjust to the system. afterward pryor will be a sophomore, and if he's any good he'll still be committing a lot of mistakes. by the time's he's full go michigan will have full personnel for its system, which is going to cause osu headaches of its own.
this rivalry has been a joke for the last 20 years. michigan owned 13 of them and osu has owned the last seven, mostly because we've taken turns employing inept coaching staffs. five of tressel's six wins could've easily have gone michigan's way had anyone other than lloyd cooper been coaching, and quite a few of michigan's 10 wins against john carr could've easily have been osu wins had cooper not been so busy staring into the headlights. i anticipate a lot of second guessing from our respective fan bases after a loss, but at least poor decision making won't be systematic year in and year out. i think this year we have a chance to steal one and afterward i expect a lot more balance to the rivalry.

Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
true enough, many of our units are definitely gutted, but at least it coincides with a complete overhaul of the football program. even if the entire team returned their experience wouldn't translate as positively as it normally would considering everyone would be learning a new system. we'll have a young qb, but at least he'll be running an offense he's more accustomed to as well as not having a whole lot of debord's stupidity to unlearn. point: the transition won't happen on the fly, but at least a young team and new staff can work out the kinks relatively quickly.
Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
I think the fact they have so few guys returning makes this the perfect time for a regime and overall philosophy change. I shiver at the how rough this season might be but if you go into this season with the right outlook and realize this will be a transition year...you should be pleased with any surprises or strides they make along the way. This could be rough for the weak-stomached fans but just hang in there, this will hopefully be rock bottom and it'll go up after this coming year.
The worst thing would really be for Rodriguez to come in and this team overachieves and they win 10 or 11 games and win at least 2 of the 3 big rivalry games (Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State) and then it puts a huge weight on him to keep that up. He's better off starting modest this year and making improves year-to-year...contend for the Big Ten title by next year or the year after at the latest. I don't know how patient fans will be with him but I don't think Lloyd could pull a rabbit out of his hat with this returning team...however, he would still have Mallett to be his QB and maybe Manningham would've hung around.

Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
Well, when you lose the starting QB and heir apparent to job along with the all-time leading rusher, one of the best tackles that's ever played at the school as well as the two leading receivers are all gone from the offense...it leaves a lot of holes to fill. That's again why I say it's a perfect time to change coaches and philosophies since you're not going to really disrupt anything establish when you'll have new starters at QB, RB, LT and both receiver spots. Then on defense, you lose the four leading tacklers from last year all to graduation...Adams, Crable, Chris Graham and Englemon. Shafer, the new d-coor, can come in and change things around considering most of the defense is young.
There is going to be a lot of teaching and coaching done at spring practice with all the young players and the brand new coaching staff. If RichRod gets fast results...it'll be a credit to him but then the pressure will be on to either match or surpass that every year. I don't see this being as big of a disaster as the first year for Bielein in hoops but it wouldn't shock me if we saw one or two losses this season that wouldn't normally happen to a typical Michigan team. A .500 season isn't really acceptable but it could happen.

Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
you sound slightly unsmart. the worst thing this year is to win? uh.. there's going to be pressure regardless. there's pressure to win nearly every game even though we should be accustomed to three or four losses every year. most people understand that this year will be difficult, but patience will still be thin by the end of the year, no matter how unreasonable. i'll take your worst-case scenario as long as one of those two wins comes against osu.

If he's able to come in and win 10 or 11 games every year, I won't complain...believe me. I just think putting a ton of pressure on him with what kind of team he has this year is a bit much. If he gets them to overachieve, it'll get this fanbase into a frenzy and expect way more than they should expect every year. I'm just saying this will be a process...it won't happen overnight.
Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
i agree with you about the process, i just don't about the unreasonable expectations he'll incur if he wins right away. they're going to be unreasonable if he's 7-5 this year or if he's 11-1. he didn't leave wvu to coach msu.
Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
Considering how much Mich lost and what RR has to work with in terms of executing his type of system I don't think expectations should be particularly high. I see 8-4 or so.

Of course.
He didn't want that 9-figure endorsement contract that was coming his way in 4 years.
I mean, who would want 100 million dollars anyway?

My apologies for not elaborating.
Refresh my memory -- who are the Oregon recruits who are starring in the NFL right now? Again, my bad for not being clear, but it was geared towards starring at the next level and the endorsement riches that come with it.
But you've got to be shitting me. You do realize that Joey Harrington and Kellen Clemens pull a big fat check from Swooshy every month, right? They keep that stuff pretty hush-hush, actually, but I think Demetrius Williams pulls a big Nike check, too. I'm guessing Sami Parker does too. Another guess -- Haloti does too. Seeing a trend here?
Your team (along with plenty of others) pay their recruits when they sign (c'mon, let's be grownups here). My team pays them legally, after they leave... and they pay even better than OSU or USC.
Poor decision by Pryor.

Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
Dins brings up the Nike thing...isn't Michigan's deal with Adidas now in effect? I thought this last season was their last year sporting Nike "stuff". Do shoe companies really carry that much weight in a player's choice of a program? Does Michigan lose credibility for not being a Nike school anymore?
Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
michigan loses cred it didn't have to begin with considering phil knight isn't a michigan booster promising endorsement deals. or at least that's dins' point.
all 88's list suggests is that pryor could've been oregon's 23rd nfl player rather than osu's 50th. it also fails to isolate the position pryor plays. i'd love to see a breakdown of oregon qb's who've made it to the nfl vs. osu qb's who've done the same.

Re: Poll: Where is Terrelle Pryor Going?
1. I know that POS Phil Knight saves a lot of $ by using sweatshop-labor but I gotta call bullshit on $100million. That is an incredible amount of money, especially for a football-player.
2. The kid being highly-ranked coming out of high school doesn't mean he'll be a first-rounder megastar coming out of college. I have a hard time believing a mid-rounder would be getting THAT much cash, cash ya but not an incredible amount? I know Phil loves his ducks and can write these deals off but geez.
3. Saying these kids should come to Oregon because Phil will pay them after school set a dangerous precedent. Paying them later "legally" is still paying them to play college-ball and it isn't supposed to be that way. Just because your team is doing it doesn't make it OK. Ya of-course there are a good amount of cheaters out there, I see your point on that, and I'm sure Knight isn't the only one giving post-grad hook-ups of some sort. But it doesn't make implied deals to pay the players after they are done at the school right.
The newly annointed RICHEST MAN ON THE PLANET, Warren Buffett, is a husker-fan. Would you really want HIM to start making under the table deals to pay players after they are done in Lincoln? I don't think so.
