Since the day I turned 19, I haven't had any problems buying booze (I had a pretty slick Pennsylvania state fake ID that I bought at a place called Bob's Photo ID shack in downtown Detroit). There are a couple liquor stores around here that have sales on beer just as good, and often better than the grocery stores. And they're always open late enough to satisfy a late night beer run (I don't need beer at 1 am unless my old friends are in town).

A Costo sized hooch store is not enough of an excuse to ever set foot in Redding.

Ah, lovely Redding, were the heat from the Valley goes to escape the heat from the Valley.

But a bottle of Glenlivet was like $19 on sale, in the gift pack with the glasses right in it. My buddy thought it might look bad if we bought the bag of ice at the same store, so we went across the street.

Thank goodness I wasn't driving -- the whole bottle was toast before we hit Medford. I've never seen anybody sustain a 100+MPH average in such heavy holiday freeway traffic before. Glad I was hammered, otherwise I would have been terrified. As it was, I was laughing at the constant string of near-death experiences.


I'm possibly going to my friend's 40th birthday bash at/near Lake Tahoe in August. I will brave the baking hot jaunt from the car to the door of the Liquor Barn both on the way down, and the way home, and suffer through the 112 degree temps for 30 seconds, and I'll do my best to avoid the militant rednecks of Nothern-Northern california.

There was a biker bar just down the road from our neighborhood that was conveniently located next to a convenient store. We used to drive over there and pull a "Hey, mister" to the drunkest biker staggering out of the bar. We'd throw in a pack of smokes for his troubles and all was good for about a year. The HOA of my subdivision got wind of our operation when a kid wrapped his dad's car around a tree and spilled his guts from a feeding tube in the hospital. Undercover sent in a teen to do the same thing we did and wrote a citation to the biker(s) who were buying the beer for him.

No, they weren't slick at all. They were so as obviously fake as ADAM's sex stories that it made it even more hilarious that they actually worked at various party stores for as long as they did. But RACK bob and his little ghetto shack for helping me get booze.
