Usually, the US Attorneys are a patient lot. Spitzer, for example, wasn't even a target of the hooker investigation. He just wandered into it months after it the wiretaps were in place. And the US Attorneys didn't act until they had ALL of the evidence necessary to nail ALL of the bad actors.

Actually, the investigation into the Emperors Club started because of Spitzer's transactions. Investigators with the FBI and IRS were following the money trail of Spitzer's suspicious transactions that were reported durring the summer of 2007. The investigation into the Emperors Club started a couple of months later.

Fitzgerald could easily have let Blogo sell the Senate seat and nail Blogo AND the corrupt sumbitch who bought the Senate seat. But he didn't. That is the stinky part.

That's one of the main reasons why they took it down when they did. They did not want that to actually happen because it would take a bit of effort to un-do what Blagojevich would have done. It was in the public's best interest to do it that way.

Just so we're all on the same page here... the Governor of the 5th most populous state is a little fish from a public corruption standpoint. Gotcha. Of course, there must have been bigger fish - like the President Elect, right? Trust me when I say this - if they had any dirt on Obama they would have run with it. To nab a President for public corruption would be the Holy Grail of that type of investigation. The FBI would not have backed off. You watch too much TV.
