was it the Holiday Bowl (when it was the Wac champ) that had the proviso that the team that was losing got the kickoff no matter who scored? that had to been an even lower tier bowl....does anybody remember that...may have only been 1 or 2 years they tried it. talk about a circus bowl.

Frickin zeeb, totally bailed-out 'bama with that PI call.

Hah, missed on the FG-attempt.

that's kinda what i thought....but i have the TV muted so i didn't hear what they said. you could see both of the Utah db's hands as the ball arrived....wasn't like he was up in the WR's shoulder pads or grabbing jersey with the hidden hand.

what is this 4th and 4? go for it, it's a bowl game.

put your kids in a position to make a play. nothing to lose. TD puts em away.

Damn it's a Tru Sighting - Sup Bro?

Why is mtroll still around? - seriously was much funnier when the possibility he was real exisited.

Texas is a good football team - I expect them to represent.
OU - I'm seeing them getting Tebowed in a bad way.

Utes 12-0 reminded me BYU won a MNC in 84 beating a 6-5 Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl

THAT thought occurred to me as well, but kicking for field position does make more sense...

...unless you kick it into the endzone.

Oh well. Oughtta be a helluva finish.

Booming the punt into the endzone for a net 20yds is just dumb. Go for the 1st or go for the coffin-corner punt.

Another sack for Utah. Good thing for the SEC Flordia won. OU would shred 'bama.

Crap, what an incredibly bad punt-bounce for Utah.

see, i don't see how if you've got THAT call on 3rd 8 out of your endzone (total possession route, easy money) you don't have a 4th and 4 call coming from upstairs?

even a Utah FG puts you up 2 td's. TD and it's a 3 score game.

right back at Bama on the punt roll. that was worth 30-40 yards instead of Bama catching clean.

All about Mir's position relative to the half-moon. Or something like that. Color me in the read-more, post-less camp, and a Scott post is always well worth the read. But we already knew all of that....

Can't disagree on Tay-hoss, bro... But the Gaylords better wrap an extra sammich for the ol' lunch pail come next Thursday. Sat though the the Arctic Blast at Camarohead when the Boomers stomped a hole in Daniel's spare tank. Those fuckers are pretty good....

i haven't seen Bama more than 2-3 times this year but sure seems like they are throwing it a lot more tonight. especially getting "behind the chains" on 1st and 2nd down incompletes.

edit: i kind of take this back, looking at Bama's boxscores against LSU and Tenn they rushed about 37-40 times. they've got 31 now....for 41 yards.

Don't worry about Utah.

They're playing the "#1 team in the country" for most of the year... from the overrated SEC.

Now playing a 3rd place PAC 10 team (Oregon State) at HOME.... made them worry.

sin,

OU (at least we made it exciting and overachieved all year in 06, but nobody remembers that--just Boise).

though we do t'row up a big old helping of thanks for Michigan losing to Appy State the next year to take us out of the relentless underdog promos/NCAA "cinderella"/credit cards commercials, etc.

I watched Fla a couple times fast strong team and given the sooners Bowl game record, I'm going Gator for the MNC - just hoping for a really good game - hasn't been many this bowl season yet.

bama fan will bounce back, this was a very good year for them. hell, they played Colorado in the Indy Bowl a year ago. CU went 5-7.

LSU fan will be pissing on them (literally and figuratively) all night tonight in the Quarter but they'll be all right.

What the hell. First time that I ever got to see my team play in the Oklahoma Invitational. But I left at the start of the Fourth. As for Adel... Last time he came to KC, they found him yakking up force-fed urinal cakes in the right field GA men's room over at the K. Not that they could taste much different than a White Castle's slider....

stupid post,

The big difference is that Bama is a legit team who lost 1 freaking game and that Michigan team wasn't even a top 20 team. Utah never trailed in this game and that was in the freaking super dome where bama fans outnumbered Ute fans probably about 4 to 1. I have a feeling that we might see that split MNC but not Texas but Utah getting the nod.

UT's best shot at a split was playing Bama in the Sugar Bowl....I posted that before. the Rose Bowl did not help your cause, either. Beating 2 loss tOSU (should you) by 21 or 500 mean-spirited, classless Bob Stoops style-points ain't gonna help much. tOSU is 1-2 against ranked teams.

of course, you need the Sooners to win to have any hope at all.

I'm not saying Boise didn't deserve the W, they did. I was rooting hard for them. They were a better team that day. But they played the game of their life and would usually lose to OU. Utah led this game the whole way. Utah beat 'bama by two td's. Bama only got two td's the whole game, one came after a turnover and the other should've came back for clipping. I'd say Utah is just a flat-out better team than 'bama in-general, therefore bama-fan might have a little more to be pissed about.

this is just my opinion on the OU-Boise game.

1. that Boise teams was loaded with seniors and 5th year seniors. the "great" OL for OU today were sophomores then. that was a really young OU team. and the weakest Big XII champ since Colorado 01.

2. OU had a WR playing QB. Peterson was back but i'm not sure OU wasn't a more desperate, cohesive O unit when he was out and running Allen Patrick between the tackles. and burning Chris Brown's redshirt. Sure, nobody is better WITHOUT Adrian Peterson than WITH Adrian Peterson....but, my uncle who was a high school coach in Oklahoma and Texas said that with Paul Thompson and Peterson in the first part of the year (before AD got hurt) that he didn't think they could decide what O to run. Peterson 8 yards deep in the I, or more of a passing game based on the throws Thompson could make. when it was all Patrick, it simplified things for Thompson.

3. OU has been beating other bowl teams with the tackle running/shorten the game O plan and Venables was blitzing his ass off the last 2-3 games trying to disguise OU's lack of coverage. a month to prepare, and that's not a problem for a guy like Peterson who can coach a little.

4. Boise did the things that year that has always troubled Stoops D's. balance between yards passing and running and a QB who can convert a 3rd and long with his feet (when Venables blitzes).

i take no sides in this issue. Boise was a good team. I do think OU would beat them most of the time, but Boise would have won more than 2 out of 10.

I didn't watch a whole lot of the game but what I did see, Bama really missed Andre Smith. Utah was able to get after Wilson from the left side. Brian Johnson is a helluva player...I remember him putting on a show in the opening game at the Big House.

The BCS sucks...another unbeaten season for the Utes goes unrewarded.
