Like I said...14 seconds in and that's better than MGMT.

You think just because most of these folks bag on you for all the other stupid shit you've posted they are bagging ont his band. Not the case for me. I, for one, enjoy reading many of MGO's takes. He seems to think this band "rocks" as well. I'll have to disagree. You grabbing at straws to attempt to insult others doesn't make MGMT suck any less. In fact, it reinforces not only their sucktitude but the sucktitude of their fanbase as well.

Carry on carrying on.

It's not that they merely suck... lots of bands fucking suck.

But in all my years, I'm not sure I've ever heard anything quite so devoid of any sort of redeeming qualities -- I'm fairly certain that MGMT has never even heard the term "musical theory," much less know what it is.

A constant in the universe is that there's going to be bad music -- sometimes bad in that it doesn't suit your tastes, some of it bad because it was written/performed by people with limited musical talent/skill/education...

But MGMT is a few steps beyond that...

It makes for sad commentary that a couple of the young "men" here, who laughably try and pass themselves off of Arbiters Of All Things Cool In Music even acknowledge that semi-rhythmic garbage as "music."

I've said it to these tools (SM, MGO), and I'll say it again... if you ever took so much as an introductory course in music theory, your world would come crashing down around you, and you'd likely become suicidal at what fucking clowns you are.

Because MGMT only vaguely meets the definition of "music." It really is THAT bad.

And again, that's not an issue of "taste," it's an issue of laughably deficient grasp of Western Music.

Why don't you enlighten us with your "musical theory" education then and breakdown how MGMT hardly classifies as music. Other than that, as usual, you're just full of shit.

First, I spent 8 fucking years studying music theory.

Second, I don't think you'll ever fully realize that asswhooping you just laid on yourself by putting the quotes around musical theory (which is interchangable with "music theory," both used to describe the science behind Western Music)...

But trust me -- those of us here who actually know a little sumpm-sumpm are laughing quite hard... and not with you.

People been studying that shit wayyyy longer than they have physics and chemistry... dumbass.

then and breakdown how MGMT hardly classifies as music. Other than that, as usual, you're just full of shit.

So, you're going with the whole "you need to prove a negative" as your saving grace, on a topic you have already admitted to knowing nothing about?

Is that your Final Answer?

I'm struck by a review I read many years ago about one of Ringo Starr's solo efforts. The reviewer's take was that it was "barely passable cocktail music". I'm afraid the same label or worse applies to MGMT's efforts.

Sorry I'm late to the party. If Creed had blessed us with a fourth album, I'm certain Led Zeppelin I-IV and all the other "contenders" (more like pretenders) would pale in comparison. If you want to bend the rules a little and include Stapp's solo album, The Great Divide, those are pretty much the only four albums you need to own. What can I say? The man just moves my soul.
Dins wrote:First, I spent 8 fucking years studying music theory.
Oh yeah? And how is that associates degree working out for you?

As to the topic at hand, a lot of good stuff has already been mentioned, but I would also add:

CCR - Bayou Country, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, Cosmo's Factory
Stevie Wonder - Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale, Songs in the Key of Life
Pixies - Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, Bossanova, Trompe le Monde
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, Stained Class, Hell Bent for Leather
and, of course, the first 4 Ween albums

Yeah, I'm still waiting for Dins' answer myself. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer, considering he's too busy working glory holes down at the local municipal park to put his money where his mouth is.

Kill Em All, Ride The Lightening, Master of Puppets, and And Justice For All are pretty bad ass...when I see them in October I wish they would just play stuff from these albums...

which makes wild honey pie so great, and the pixies cover it on BBC sessions.

Yield came after No Code, which came after Vitalogy. If you were to say Ten, Vs., Vitalogy, No Code, you'd be spot on.

I believe PJ's first albums, in order, were:

-Pearl Jam's Greatest Hits
-Yawn
-Yawn
-Yawn

I'm sorry, marty. They should have been more specific. They are looking for 4 best MUSIC albums in a row.

I'm not sure Kill At Will should count since it's an EP. Put AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted there and you'd be good. Lethal Injection wasn't all that great as he was trying to copy Dre's sound a bit too much. Death Certificate is by far his best record though.

Givin' up the nappy, givin' up the nappy dugout. Hell yeah.

I have another nomination as well. I recently bought a used car and the CD player is broken, but the tape deck works like a charm. Being the hoarder that I am, I still have about 250 cassettes from the 80s and early 90s. Turns out I had nearly forgotten how incredibly fucking awesome Kreator is. The "Big 4" get most of the love when it comes to thrash metal, but I'm starting to think that Kreator might be better than all of them. Therefore, I nominate...

Pleasure to Kill (1986)
Terrible Certainty (1987)
Extreme Aggression (1989)
Coma of Souls (1990)
