Pssst.... retard. That's a picture from "Joe Roth" day. Not that you would have any idea who he was since you know little to nothing about College Football.

Put is this way.... during his short period of life on this earth, he was better than any quarterback Iowa has EVER had.

Oh, ok. Now you're claiming that Joe Roth was a better QB than Chuck Long?? Jesus man, you just don't know anything do you??? Sounds like a sad story for this Joe Roth guy. But you do realize Chuck Long was a Heisman Runner up to Bo Jackson and became the first QB to ever pass for 10,000 career yards, don't you??? No, no you didn't. Why would I even bother asking? It's almost pointless to ask football questions to m2/van/blueblood/whatever other trolls you've got.

Pssst....

Joe Roth, a former All-American quarterback at Cal, had a uniquely inspirational life story. In terms of his football talent, Barry Switzer, the former coach of Okalahoma who also coached the Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys '96, said: "Roth is the Best I've faced as a coach. None of the others had such a quick delivery with such a great arm while throwing such a soft ball--all of his should be caught."

Joe Roth was a backup for a couple years??? Chuck Long was a 4 year starter on a team that won 2 Big-10 titles in those seasons. He also threw for about 8,000 more yards than Roth.

Wow, good job finding a quote from Barry Switzer. Whoopty freakin' doo!! If Barry Switzer says he's the best than he must be! Bo Schembechler said after the Iowa-Michigan game in 1985 (#1 vs #2) that Chuck Long was the greatest QB he's ever seen. Who gives a shit? If I asked 100 CFB coaches to name who the greatest QB's ever were you have all kinds of different answers. The only constant would be that they'd each name off some QB's that ripped their team a new asshole. Hell, I think Carson Palmer's the greatest QB I've ever seen in person after he played an amazing game against us in 2002.

Tah say.... you're STUPID beyond belief... would be a misnomer.

The starting qb before him(at.. Cal)... was the #1 draft choice... in the NFL draft...

Steve Bartkowski....
Bartkowski was chosen with the 1st overall pick in the 1975 NFL Draft, ahead of Walter Payton, by the Atlanta Falcons and was the NFL Rookie of the Year as well as The Sporting News NFC Rookie of the Year in 1975.] He was the first client of legendary sports agent Leigh Steinberg.

Psst....

"Leigh Steinberg" is a CAL grad as well....

... but at least Kirk Ferentz never bought someone a plane ticket home at Christmas!"
Or paid for the funeral of players child, or flew a son home to their father's funeral (that was paid back by the family). Those were the only three instances the NCAA ever were able to pin on Switzer for giving money to players by the NCAA. I repeat... THE ONLY. Da Horrah, Da Horrah. Barry Switzer wasn't dirty his issue was that he actually gave a fuck about his players and probably saw too much of the best in people while ignoring their faults and that was his downfall.

You want to go back further and toss around the slush fund accusations under Tatum and Wilkenson... fine. You're G-d damn right The University of Oklahoma had a slush fund! and I am damn fucking proud of that big lock box drawer in the Head coaches office. Not one single player out of HS coming to OU such as Bob Burris, Jimmy Stevens, or Clendon Thomas ever saw one red cent from that drawer and they were the stars who led the teams to titles. That money was given to mostly a bunch of 2nd platoon guys who were WWII veterans and it was used to feed their families, their wives, their children. I am damn proud the University of Oklahoma took care of our Veterans who stormed Normandy, flew into Berlin during broad day light, and fought on Iwo Jima in that fashion! Anyone who thinks that is a detraction from OUr University can go fuck themselves.

Kingsbury and Brennan were not mid 1st round NFL picks. While Chuck never had much of an NFL career (mostly due to a HORRIBLE offensive line and overall team), the NFL scouts did think he had a lot of talent. The NFL scouts laughed hysterically at watching guys like Brennan and Kingsbury throw. I watched Kliff play in an exhibition game for the Patriots a few years back. Watching him throw was probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Dude was throwing groundballs on 7 yard out patterns.

Unreal. 2 mediocre, invisible teams...each of which might win 8-9 games once a decade.

What's your point? So Chuck wasn't a great NFL QB? Big deal. What the fuck did Tommie Frazier do in the NFL? I suppose he wasn't any good in college, right? Or Vince Young. Yep, he sucked balls as a college QB since he never amounted to shit in the NFL.

What the hell are you getting at? Chuck was a great college QB, a mediocre NFL QB, and an even worse college head coach!

Tim Couch was a very good college QB as well. Shit, he put up big numbers in a very good conference at a school with mediocre talent and no football tradition. I'd say that's pretty darn impressive.

Did Chuck Long make a Pro Bowl? Vince Young did.

My point is that it doesn't matter how many yards you throw for in college or what your NFL career was like, you can still be an excellent QB. When you dismiss guys like Roth, you really show your ignorance.

Vince Young = shit QB. He was a terrible QB his rookie year and the fact that he made the Pro Bowl is a fucking joke and an embarrassment to the NFL. Vince Young was a great college QB, though.

I did not say Roth wasn't any good. He was before my time. He might have been great. I do not comment on people I did not see play. You did not see Roth play either since you're about my age I believe. I always love people that talk about how great someone they've never seen play was.

I saw Chuck Long play many times. He's one of the best college QB's I've ever seen. His numbers and the success Iowa had with him at QB back me up on it.

Actually, I doubt I missed a single home game that Chuck Long played in and went to quite a few road games. I do not recall him. But I have a few of his old games on tape and have since watched them.

I remember a lot of Games for the Sooners, Chiefs, and Cowboys from that age... Just sayin'. I remember Keith Jackson and Charles Thompson vividly. Football was the religion in my family. Most kids played war with G.I. Joes but laid in the living room floor and waited for my father to get around to head down to Norman for the game while running the wishbone up Cobra's ass with Duke, Snake eyes, and Rip Cord.
