i don't know if michigan fans are necessarily echoing my statements. i live in a bit of a bubble considering i don't live in michigan and the friends i talk with about michigan football are pretty reasonable with regards to dickrod. we have our differences, of course, but no one's screaming about him burning the house down. all stories like the current one do is get you worked up for no good reason, so it's probably good that i get to form my opinions, for the most part, away from the clatter, and like i said before, as long as bill martin's calling the shots it doesn't really matter how angry the fan base gets. [the people making the most noise are the ones who think every recruiting class should have at least one mnc to their name, so why would he base important decisions on their idiocy?]
so yes, people will be up in arms if we lose to wmu this weekend considering last season, which seems to have been judged more by "michigan football are good" than "uh, nick sheridan, really?" the best way to deal with controversy is to win, obviously, so he's going to have to show measurable improvement to get the howling public off his back. otherwise, it's just another off season of people yelling LOLOLOL on the internetz before he gets to stick a good team - on paper, at least - on the field. [this year's team = much more talented/experienced than last year's but much too much inexperience at key positions + no depth.]

DickRod hasn't really been associated with anything positive since he stepped foot in AA, hence the negative press. The only positive thing I guess would be simply getting hired, and Rosenberg and others wrote praiseful pieces about that. Since then it's been a comedy of errors - the file shredding, the buyout fiasco, 3-9, losing top in state talent to MSU, players jumping ship, players calling him out, potential in-house investigation, banned booster incident, 3 quarterbacks, etc. What else would you have the journalists write? How sunshine and rainbows is right around the corner though no evidence suggests such a thing? No he's not on the hot seat yet but he hasn't done anything to deserve any praise either, and if he loses to WMU that hot seat gets plugged in.

no, negative press is expected considering the massive culture shift and 3-9 is fertile ground for that sort of thing, though obviously i find most of it unwarranted [e.g. he didn't shred files but still takes flak for it]. my point with jon is that there's a disconnect between what the press makes out to be real and what's actually going on in the AD.
dickrod obviously hasn't done anything deserve praise yet, football wise [i've read reports that the team just turned its best gpa ever], but then again, anyone who can realistically evaluate football talent would understand this shift was going to be painful. [i obviously can't and was expecting 7-5 or some shit, not that.] we're still in that period where wait-and-see should apply, but yeah right, i suppose. the football field is where he's supposed to show results, so thankfully the season's finally underway.

If true, and if you believe DickRod had ANYTHING to do with it, you're as fuckdumb as mJew. Don't hang your hat on that point, my friend.

You said he hasn't done anything to deserve praise football wise, but threw in the aside about GPA. He had nothing to do with that. 'Sall I was sayin'.

i was agreeing with mgo that the on-the-field merits were obviously shaky. i threw in the gpa bit just as an aside that he's not going miami on everyone's ass. there are some positives, just not ones anyone really cares to talk about, and for good reason.

Whether he has or hasn't done some of the things he's accused of doesn't put an end to the distractions and the stigma against him which I feel makes his job harder; which ultimately is to win football games. Not one incident stands alone as a reflection of a struggling regime (except for 3-9), rather it's the multitude of all things. I liked DickRod when he was at WVU, and I'm trying to remain objective about the guy (I've said before I thought he'd turn it around and he very well may do that) but SO FAR it's not looking good, and so far he's making it really difficult to buy into him. The crying on tv thing a few days before kickoff...that's just not a good omen to me. But like you said, this all gets washed away if he gets it done on the field, so we'll see.

Nobody fucking cares about Boren. What scU-M cares about is 3-9, 3-9, getting embarrassed weekly on the national stage, and 3-9. Keep chalking up your fairy tale, pie in the sky bullshit about how the big, bad liberal media is being unfair to Poor Little Dick Rod, because unfair (and in your opinion, inaccurate and untrue) the media coverage is the REAL problem here.
Go fuck yourself, cunt. No wonder your football program is in the state of crisis. Hand-wringing pissflaps like yourself.
eh, no. 3-9 was a bugger. the coverage is just a joke. i'm pretty sure me pointing that out has a lot to do with who wins or loses. amazing you can't find
some shit rag to give you a job. at least you'll be free to watch your college get ass humped this weekend.

Yeah, but as a professional jack shack janitor, would you feel somewhat less secure if you learned that M2 was planning an extended vacation to the Greater DCArea... hypothetically, of course?
