I had some great battles with index (starting with the Rocker thing), but I never resorted to using the n-word. I can't understand anyone going that route.
Sam, I agree. That's a word that says quite a bit more about the person who used it than it does about its intended target.
I miss index and those days.
Me too. The Rome board used to have a healthy contingent of African-American posters. Now? Well, we've still got Bobby 42, Arch and Vic. Of course, the latter two don't appear more than once in a blue moon. And while I don't know for certain, it wouldn't surprise me if the greater use of the n-word drove most, if not all, of them away. I know Pickle has said that Index is dead, and I don't discount this completely as a possibility, but neither do I consider Pickle the most reliable source on anything, let alone Index.
Back then you couldn't finsih a post before someone else had jumped into the thread. Now, you can wait hours before anyone posts.
Of course, being associated with a nationally-syndicated radio show host probably had just a little to do with that. Nowadays, this board is more or less a closed community. If a new poster registers, there's at least a 90% chance that it's either someone who used to post on the Rome board and somehow got separated, or it's the troll of an existing poster.
