as for your boo-fucking-hoo about why everyone always references history, it's because it's part of the cfb landscape. dickrod's gone 8-16 and is still in the midst of putting together a top ten recruiting class.
I got news for you, club.......
I just pulled up the committment lists from Rivals and Iowa and Michigan's class is looking almost identical. Plus, Iowa has a real good shot at the #1 class in the country. You're slipping dude........

rivals? uh... i was a bit off. i thought around 10. rivals says 20 right now. iowa's at 35. a good shot at #1? i suppose you're not slipping since it took all of one decent season for you to resurrect your bit about 85 1st rounders.

Dude Iowa's not even in the top 25 classes according to any of the three major recruiting websites. Rivals 35th, Scout 44th, and ESPN only does the top 20 unless you purchase the "insiders" package so I have no clue there. Suffice it to say you have no shot at the #1 class in the country. Hell according to Rivals you only even have four 4star players committed; there are 13 programs with twice that many and numerous of those have Five star recruits as well that Iowa has none of.

i suppose we'll just have to start attributing "25 5-stars now, 85 first-rounders later" to jon.

by thy by, scout has michigan listed with the 11th ranked class right now. iowa's 38, right behind kal. i guess jonsense extends to your ability to read a chart.

Oh my.
I’m completely baffled. Just when you think jon has finished his self-mutilation, he throws another branding iron in the fire.
I just don’t understand this. You actually have to WORK at fucking up this bad… or simply be that effing stupid. Really, how hard is it to pull up recruiting rankings, scroll to find Iowa (most likely down), scroll your eyes left to see what their ranking is, and come to a conclusion. I guess in jon’s case, when he finds Iowa, his synapses spaz out, shortwire, or seize up… cuz he obviously cannot deduce from the most simple of information.
Jon either:
1. Can’t read
2. Can’t count
3. Can’t comprehend/reason
4. Is delusional
I’ll go with a cocktail of ingredients 3 & 4, with a splash of #1. I mean, if you look at this list of teams…
Florida
Texas
LSU
Penn State
Oklahoma
Alabama
… you have got to be a profound idiot to read any one of those as Iowa. Shit, common sense dictates that you won’t find Iowa up there anyways.
Can I change my BB vote?

Fwiw, ND's recruiting class is ranked #14 by Rivals, #17 by Scout and #18 by ESPN. That's ahead of Iowa by all sources. And this is considered a down year for recruiting at ND, what with the coaching change and all. Martin's decommit hurt us, obviously.

Good lord everyone, re-fucking-lax! Chrissakes. I meant number 1 recruit- not class. A fucking typo.
Nice meltdowns over the typo though.

Who, Seantrel Henderson? No you don't. OSU, assuming he qualifies.

It seems we have a shot. If he was set on tOSU then why did he call the Iowa coaches after the OB to say that he's changed his mind and wants to make an official visit? He called Ferentz, not the other way around. I'm not saying we will get him but we are far from out of it. Things are kind of breaking our way with Petey leaving, Bulaga going pro and ND having a coaching change. That doesn't mean we will land him but it's not a lock the Buckeyes get him. Iowa has more of a shot than you think. Like I said, if we don't why would he call the coaches this late in the game and decide to make an official visit? It doesn't make sense for him to do that if Iowa isn't a real player in the Seantrell Henderson sweepstakes.

That's one hell of a typo. Maybe you thought typing 'class' was the same as hitting the enter key... or 'recruit'.
My vote is officially changed.

Do you have a football take ever, Ken, or do you just wanna impress the message board community because you're a badass internet bully? Look at you, stud. Talking tough. Man, you're so fucking cool.

Like I said, I'm not predicting him to go to Iowa. But he's been looking at Miami, USC, Florida, Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc........... why would a guy at the last minute basically decide he now wants to visit a program like Iowa? I'm no recruiting expert, and I barely even follow it. But just thinking logically, if he's not seriously considering Iowa it doesn't make a whole heck of a lot of sense for him to have a late change of heart about wanting to make an official visit to Iowa. If it were a program like USC or Florida, that's different.
If he has grades issues, why not go somewhere like Alabama or another top SEC program? To me, that seems like the place for a big recruit like him to go if he is having problems qualifying. I don't think you even need to be able to read and write to get into those schools if you can play football (and I'm only sorta kidding). How could Notre Dame be a real player if he is having problems qualifying?

Would have been easier to answer with a simple "no, I can't possibly spew out a reasonable football take so I'll just act all badass on the internet instead"
Just sayin'...........

lots of typos. if you meant #1 recruit and not #1 class, then what did you mean to write instead of nearly identical classes?
personally, i hope iowa lands henderson. would rather hide him there than have to deal with him on a real team.

The grade thing at ND is way over blown. There was a time where ND couldn't touch a lot of kids because their standards were 17 core courses and the NCAA's was 15. So even if the kid had a 4.0, if he only had 15 core courses, ND couldn't recruit him. The NCAA changed their rules and now require 17 core courses so ND can recruit just about anyone.
But specifically to your point, they are willing to bend for Henderson for a few reasons. 1.) He is an elite left tackle. 2.) His high school his a huge feeder school to ND not only for football players (Michael Floyd, Ryan Harris, etc.), but for students as well. ND won't want to piss off their relationship with the school. Same reason they recruited Lamarcus Joyner, even though he wasn't fully qualified.

I was reading a bit on Henderson and I'm not really sure I even want him at Iowa. He seems like he would be a lousy fit and I give him a 1 in 25 shot of staying academically eligible anyways. These kids are very predictable. Grade problems in HS = flunking out in college. He will flunk out at Iowa or ND. If he goes to Ohio State, he stands a better shot because the odds of him actually having to do his own school work there are slim and none. Tressel will find a way to keep him eligible. I'm not joking, by the way.
But not only that but this is not going to be a hard working kid. You can tell by his arrogance and wanting the spotlight. His dad is a terrible influence on him and that's too bad. He's going to be the 2010 version of Todd Marijuanavich's old man. Players like this are poor fits at Iowa. Ferentz requires too much hard work and he wouldn't make it. This is why Ferentz has recruited a lot of top ranked offensive linemen that end up being busts and low-rated O-linemen that turn into NFL stars. I can already predict the type of player Henderson will be. It's not to say he can't become a star lineman in college, but I think he would be a bust at Iowa. I think he could stay eligible at Ohio State, but he could be a bust there too. Tressel is very similar to Ferentz in that he demands mental toughness and hard work. USC would be the perfect fit for him. Lane Kiffin might talk like he wants his players to be tough and work hard, but come on...........like anyone buys that garbage.
I've actually been told by players on our teams from the early part of the Ferentz era that said there were 4 and 5 star linemen that we recruited that just didn't want to work and thought they could just come in, start and go to the NFL. They ended up on 3rd string. Hell, we had the #1 LT recruit in 2000 and he never even let his playing career expire. Dude thought he was NFL bound. Played 3 years and gave up. Couldn't get any PT. Never wanted to work. Might have become a big star somewhere else, but this is not the place for guys like that to be.
