Pity.
"A man without religion or spiritual vision is like a captain who finds himself in the midst of an uncharted sea, without compass, rudder and steering wheel. He never knows where he is, which way he is going and where he is going to land."

Homophobia, racism, and people screeching at each other without the pretense of actually considering the others' views. Nope. Never going back there. Ever.

So the 10 of you have a big circle jerk on facebook, probably using the "poke" function like it's some hand buzzer gag. How cute.
The difference is that we all know each other in real life and therefore are forced to be more honest, both personally and intellectually.
History has proven that time after time, the more personal info you share about yourself on these boards will only lead to stalkings, leaked photos and international love affairs with midgets and the resulting thread is great for a pile on not to mention future references to said incidents 10 years down the road (thanks to some epoch spreadsheeting).
So if you want to make this board something like facebook, by all means, post up a shot of your ugly mug with some idiotic post about what you had for breakfast so we can all pile on and yet "respect" you more and consider you an honest and intellectual fellow. Who knows it might actually go better than this thread is currently going for you.

Nope. We debate real local and national issues. No pokes.
BTW: Nobody is suggesting that this place turn into Facebook. Not me, not Mike, not Poptart and not anybody else. If you think that was the gist of my post you are fucking delusional and should go back to having your wife post for you.

No, he's a full on ATHEIST. He doesn't believe there is a God, or a trinity or anything else. And it has nothing to do with the RCC.

You mean like rehashing "Is there a God" for the 1 billionth time on the Internet?
Might as well be fake.

Btw, probably the funniest part of this thread, other than Rat taking his toys home to set up shop on Farcebook, is BSchlepp giving takes on who does and doesn't "engage" during discussion.

Over the years, there has been almost nobody who has "engaged" less than him in political discussions.
100% democratic shill.
Never met a donkey dick he wasn't eager to suck - including Hillary's.
It's his habit to be intellectually dishonest in political threads because the -- MUST SUPPORT THE D -- reflex invariably kicks into high gear.
I, as an independent, have no need to play such juvenile games.

Btheft, I'm sure your little Facebook debate club is no more/less objective than anybody here. More likely there's just the pretense of objectivity for the sake of diplomacy amongst friends. In that sense, this place is probably more honest. Debate is about winning, not about perspective and enlightenment - things I'm sure none of you are striving to achieve when engaging "honestly." I'd guess it's a standard battle of intellectual hubris, except with a period at the end of each sentence instead of a comma and a dumbfuck.

So why the fuck did you bring up facebook in the first place? Nobody cares what you and Mike do in your spare time and nobody cares that Mike doesn't like the content on the board. If it takes facebook for you and Mike to show off the size of your intellectual cocks to each other then by all means poke away. But what the fuck is the purpose of this thread? Retirement threads are funny when the retiree melts. Proxy melts are flat out lame.

Let's review, shall we?
MtLR's take on a thread here is elicited by a few members of the board.
MtLR responds that the playing field is not to his liking.
BFuddled bears that response back to the board like an Olympic Torch.
BJarred starts a teeball thread so that T1B readers can whack his silly ass into a disgusting pulp until such time as they bore of it.
Rack BSillyPutty, I guess.

The purpose of this thread was to deliver a reply to those who asked that I track down Mike. Mission accomplished.
Unfortunately the mental TVOs here can't seem to discern where Mike's opinion ends and mine begins. Furthermore, there seems to be some genuine confusion from the folks who used to worship at the MtLR altar now that he has basically called the vast majority of you mouth breathing idiots. Ergo the last two pages of tripe.

BRidiculed, may we send you on other missions? You could regard the pursuit of them as optional, like bet payments...all while maintaining a pretense of pursuit.

I always got the impression from Lab Rat that he was a class snob that enjoyed berating his students.
He pretty much exemplified the worst accusations against libertarian minded academics of being selfish and NIMBY-ish.

Just razzing ya BSmack. Thanks for the message. I'm still curious about his status in the brotherhood though, the Masons, I thought they were required to believe in a Supreme Being of sorts and that no athiest can be made a Freemason.
I could be wrong that he was even a Freemason at all. Either way, feel free to carry best regards from Virginia back to him.

Thanks ppanther. I don't know how you gals do it though, my wife is such a trooper. Between work, school, our 2.5 year old son, etc.. it will be an exciting challenge. We have a ton of logistical support in the area, family, friends, etc.. so I'm grateful.

IMO, this place is loaded with pretense. Most of the posters here say shit they wouldn't even THINK to say, much less dare to say in real life. I don't necessarily think that War Wagon is a flaming douchetard in real life. But that won't stop me from dropping that line on him on this board. Is that not also pretense?

Jsc, he didn't say that he believes Earth is 6,000 years old. He said he doesn't quite know how old it is, but that life on Earth began 6,000 years ago.
Either way, it's an argument that he might be able to sell to his none-too-intrepid 4th grade audience, while people with two mental nickles to rub together will point at him and laugh over such painfully idiotic thinking.

Dinosaurs and other creatures are not material to "life" of homo sapiens. Perhaps the usage of "life" is within context of the existence of homo sapiens. ?
The Holocene, @12,000 yrs ago. Subtract @2000 for A.D. = @10,000.
So @10,000 years ago, depending upon which book in the bible the reference is made, I still say the estimate is not that bad, especially considering that even today's scientists with their tools and technology can still only provide estimates.
We might need to re-evaluate mocking poptart on this matter. Please consider that, without pretense of course.

After decades of debate, paleoanthropologists now agree the genetic and fossil evidence suggests that the modern human species -- Homo sapiens -- evolved in Africa between 100,000 and 200,000 years ago.
