It is a victory for freedom.
My younger sister lived in Hillcrest in the 90's. One night while walkng back to the house after a beer run, several dudes on a balcony at a party started whistling catcalls at us. I assumed it was college dudes whistling at my 18 y/o sister, and to be a goofball said "that was for me".Ana Ng wrote:I love that little town.trev wrote:Besides, I've been hanging out in Hillcrest a lot this summer.
Everyone pretty much accepts anyone, and we can walk freely there at night and NOT have to worry about getting mugged/raped.
Bellissimo!
A judge who is openly gay. How does this man get assigned to preside over this case? Nope, no conflict of interest going on here, none whatsoever.88 wrote:One man, a federal judge, now told the majority of the People of the State of California that they can go fuck themselves because he sees something in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which no person has ever seen before, that requires the State of California to recognize same sex relationships as being identical to traditional marriages.
Wouldn't an "openly heterosexual" judge have the same conflict of interest?War Wagon wrote:A judge who is openly gay. How does this man get assigned to preside over this case? Cock-craving judge has something to gain. Hetero judge does not.Jsc810 wrote:With WW's logic, a heterosexual Judge would have the same conflict. Perhaps a bisexual Judge would be ok?
Traditional marriage produces more taxpaying worker bees and, as the most basic building block of society, the traditional family contributes of social stability. If that isn't a "legitimate state interest," then there isn't one.Believe the Heupel wrote: Nice of you to admit that "protection of traditional marriage" isn't a legitimate state interest.
So would amnesty for illegals.mvscal wrote: Traditional marriage produces more taxpaying worker bees.
I see no compelling state interest in granting amnesty to any class of criminal let alone a class which has done tremendous damage to the standard of living in this pathetic cuntry of ours.Martyred wrote:So would amnesty for illegals.mvscal wrote: Traditional marriage produces more taxpaying worker bees.
They're working on it. I'm sure GaySC will be along presently to lick her boots as well.88 wrote:You should find a federal judge to declare that illegal aliens are entitled to citizenship and a job with health care benefits and a kick ass retirement plan because they are nice people and dad-gummit the Due Process and Equal whateverthefuck it is called Clauses or something overwhelmingly compel it. Most illegals that do work make minimum wage, or less if they're lettuce pickers. Last I checked, the $12k/year crowd doesn't pay shit in income taxes.Martyred wrote:So would amnesty for illegals.mvscal wrote: Traditional marriage produces more taxpaying worker bees.

Well played.Jsc810 wrote:Uhm, that's not what I was saying.
I'm tired and about to go to bed, but will reply further tomorrow or this weekend. For now I'll leave you with this from a Great American:
“It’s time America realized that there is no gay exemption in the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the Declaration of Independence.”
88 wrote:He gets one vote, just like the rest of us. And since he apparently thinks the Declaration of Independence has legal significance in a Constitutional government, his vote is probably a throw-away.

C'mon, you can do better. The vast majority of hispanic illegals send the bulk of their money untaxed to their families in their home countries. It's well-documented (and in the billions) and one of the reasons they live 20 to a 4 BR house.Martyred wrote:Sales Taxes? Purchases?OCmike wrote:

You know, the not-so-hidden taxes?
Do you people not have code enforcement officers?OCmike wrote:C'mon, you can do better. Huh?Believe the Heupel wrote: If hetero judge has "nothing to gain" from keeping gay marriage illegal, then gay marriage doesn't threaten straight marriage. The asserted purpose is a sham, because there's no rational relation between the state action and the asserted purpose.
Even if I weren't a lawyer, I'd be more inclined to take the word of a law student than of a forklift operator when it comes to a discussion on the law. BtH was merely referring to the legal test that will apply to the analysis of whether Amendment 8 violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.War Wagon wrote:Huh?Believe the Heupel wrote: If hetero judge has "nothing to gain" from keeping gay marriage illegal, then gay marriage doesn't threaten straight marriage. More wannabe lawyer gibberish. Don't quit your night job at Applebees, you might make assistant manager someday.
Huh?88 wrote:Loving was a criminal case. The State of Virginia indicted, convicted and then sentenced a black man and his white wife to one year in jail, with the jail time suspended for 25 years on the condition that they leave the State and not return to Virginia together for 25 years.

I didn't even mention it, you brainless cock knob. Since you mention it now, the "correct constitutional standard" for federal immigration legislation [/rolling eyes handjob gesture] is that Congress makes the law and the Executive is supposed to enforce it. Period. Full stop.Believe the Heupel wrote: By the way, you made an error on the correct constitutional standard for federal immigration legislation.

That is a process, dumbfuck. What part of the English language are you struggling to comprehend?Believe the Heupel wrote:You really are just a clueless chimpanzee aren't you?mvscal wrote:Strict scrutiny, as you mean the term, is a process of judicial review which has fuck all to do with the legislative process, you whimpering spanksock.
1. It's not a "process" of judicial review, it's a test used in judicial review.
Nope, they sure don't. All they do is slap up some severability boilerplate and roll on. They don't even bother reading any piece of substantive legislation let alone all of them. At best, the most conscientious of them might skim a few bullet points put together by their staff before they jet out to the next fundraiser or photo op.2. Really, you think that Congress doesn't try to ensure that their legislation will pass the appropriate constitutional standards if challenged?
Let me help you out, Gomer Pyle: every piece of substantive legislation passed will identify the grant of power which gives authority to pass the legislation, then will identify the reason for the legislation.
mvscal wrote:before they jet out to the next fundraiser or photo op.
Not really. Not anymore. I'm just laying low and waiting for The Great Enema to purge this horrifically fucked up country.Dinsdale wrote: WARNING: It will probably make you just as seething mad as it did me.

Actually, it's way too easy to be a failed lawyer before you even get started. Especially with you being the not so bright product of unimpressive school (there isn't a school in Alabama in the top 50).Believe the Heupel wrote: 1. I'm a failed wannabe lawyer? Quaint. Since I'm still actually in law school (see "law student", Terry, above) it's tough to be a "failed" lawyer already.
Dumbass......the ABA's own stats show that there are 1.1 million people with JD's, but the federal govt has stats that show that only about 765K people reported income earned as a lawyer. Go find those 340K people and ask THEM about the odds of success in law school.
When you gamble on law school, you have at least a 30 percent chance of failure. And that is just looking at those who have gone to law school in the last 40 years. In recent years the profession has become so overcrowded that the odds of failure have gone up dramatically. And then you throw in the holocaust in legal hiring over the last year. And who knows when or if that will ever go back to normal. For the foreseeable future, the next 10 years or so, if you go to a 2nd tier school or lower, without having a relative who has a successful firm, unless you finish top 5 percent, your chances of failure as a lawyer are at least 50 percent.

And those Republicans wouldn't even recognize today's GOP. Hindsight is 20.20. They look to be pretty smart now dude.
Certainly in recent history the Republican Party too has sold out to Asian and European bankers and been watered down.PSUFAN wrote: The party that is currently led by Michael Steele? Have a nice day.

Lovely.Sorry, champ. The people of Alabama fully fund my legal education. Pretty sweet gig-when you're smart, you can get schools to pay you to go there. Maybe you hit the genetic lottery, your wife fucked some other guy, and you won't have to pay for your kids' college.
Ensuring that one doesn't shit themselves is a noble goal but at the end of the day I'll still have a drawer full of clean underwear that my hot as fuck wife washed and folded. You know, if we were discussing forklifts, I'd no doubt defer to your vast knowledge. In this area, you simply don't have the intellectual horsepower to keep up. You're laboring, it's obvious, and perhaps you should dedicate yourself to something more your speed. Ensuring you don't shit yourself seems about your level.
