Sam, listen to those clips, and pay close attention to the solo in "Rock Bottom." Strangers In The Night could easily be the most underrated live rock album ever.

Sorry to dis-agree with you smack, BUT, I have heard them, and guess what? There is a huge difference between good music, and music that is great. And Built to Spill falls in the "good" category.

I only ask that you open your mind and realize that Built to Spill is nice and good, nothing wrong with their ART at all. BUT, dont give me your bullshit about them being as good as the cranberries.

Im gonna have to beg to differ with you here. Do me a favor and get her live DVD. Its a double DVD set of two live shows in Dallas. Three and a half hours of pure amazing artistry. We are talking about an artist who does not have any down time here. Every song is interesting and worth the price of admission on its own.

Her voice has tremendous depth. A contra-alto which reveals so much pain and angst, and then, when she wants, she can hit the upper registers with the crystal clarity of an opera singer.

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say with authority, she has a voice without peer. GO out and listen to her voice on the christmas classic, "Oh Holy Night". When she hits the high note, I dare any human being to not be visibly shaken to their very core.

The first time I heard her hit the high note in "Oh Holy Night", my body convulsed into millions of chill bumples, it was as close to a religious "otherworldly" experience that a human being can have.

To fully describe it, I will only say that her voice becomes , at that moment, a singular pure sound, a sound so pure and crystaline, so angelic, that its as if the almighty Himself, sent his finest angels down to touch us all. I KID YOU NOT, at the moment she hits that high note, her voice goes from being folksy and sweet, to the most beautiful sound that has ever come from a human being on planet earth, or any other planet in the universe. IN OTHER WORDS, it would be impossible to create a sound as beautiful and pure from any other source, living or non-living.

Don't need to. I saw her open for Neil Young and Crazy Horse when she was touring in support of "Pieces of You." I know what she sounds like live. She has a great voice. Her lyrics range from dece to meh to WTF is that hippie bitch talking about?
