What game were you watching? It was all the running game on that drive. The Burner got that 66 yard run and then that Jaqjizz Rogers guy inched them closed with more runs and the Burner punched it in. Ryan didn't do shit.

I was watching the game where Matt Ryan won as the starting quarterback. But I know actual wins and losses have no relevancy to you when discussing football.

it was all the Burner on that final drive. You want to see a real quarterback, look at Tony Romo today playing with cracked ribs and launching balls up the field in a dramatic comeback win including leading them down the field with that bomb in overtime to win it. You'll never see Ryan do that.

Red zone offense. Falcons had it, Eagles didn't. Also the Eagles once again showed their inability to stop the run or cover the Tight End. Jackson had a huge run of 60+ yards last week and Turner did the same this week. Gonzo had 2 Td's inside the 20 and the Eagles have once again shown no interest in putting talent in that position. I wish someone would rip the hair off Casey Matthews head. He's giving that family a bad name.

No, I haven't noticed it, just like nobody else has noticed it, because it doesn't exist. ESPN does not give two shits about Big East football simply because its universities are located in the same time zone as its headquarters. The only thing ESPN cares about is ratings, and few Big East programs, if any, move the needle. Flip on "Game Day," flip on "College Football Live," flip on Cowturd's show. I can assure you Big East football is back page news, if that even.Papa Willie wrote:If you've never noticed it, then your IQ is a good 50 points lower than I gave you credit. What is so hard to understand? ESPN pimps the Yankees because they drive ratings. They ignore UCONN football because they do nothing for ratings. If you think what's driving espn's ship is ANYTHING other than money, you're an idiot.Papa Willie wrote:Holy shit. Now you're denying yourself. Fabulous work. Why do you think so many Big East football programs schedule games on Thursday nights? Because they can't get exposure on Saturdays. Come Saturday, the Big East is buried by the Big Ten, SEC, etc. Outside of the Backyard Brawl, ESPN does not give two shits about BE football.

In Vick's six seasons as an NFL starter, these are the rankings of the defenses for the teams he's played on.
19th

14th
22nd
22nd
12th
Averages out to 20th in the league.
He's never had very much support on the other side of the ball - and yet do you know what he's done?
He's WON games.
47-32 as a starter.
Just looking at that, I'm pretty sure he's been doing a helluva lot RIGHT for his teams.
Unconventional as hell, no doubt.
And yeah, perhaps the media had inflated him some and had an infatuation with him - and some of it has probably been because of his race.
But he HAS been one of the most unique QBs ever, and he's really one of the handful of players who I personally have found to be very interesting to watch.
Just win, baby.

Defenses are always ranked by total yards given up. Not a 100% indication of a defense, but does give an idea of opposing teams chances at scoring.ucantdoitdoggieSTyle2 wrote:Is this yards... pts allowed... what?poptart wrote:In Vick's six seasons as an NFL starter, these are the rankings of the defenses for the teams he's played on.

Re: Falcons.
The Matt Ryan experiment is just about over with. While he's a media-loved QB (and the only reason for that is because he went to BC), he seriously doesn't have enough arm-strength to throw the ball more than about 35-40 yards. You know how many times he threw the deep ball today? None. You know why? Because he fucking can't. I hate to say it, but he's just not a "next level quarterback".
So basically your take is Vick can't score in the red zone, and Ryan is a pedestrian role player at QB who should be traded or dumped. And the last 3 years he was in ATL, the D stayed the same the first 2 and actually improved to 12th the last year he was here - while the records kept getting worse. Again - Vick was 30th in red zone offense his last year here. Doesn't have a thing to do with the Falcons' Defense. It had everything to do with the fact that he couldn't handle a short field. Believe me - I watched just about every single snap he took as a Falcon.
Not sure why you changed your nick from shutyomouth, seems much more fitting.

Re: Falcons.
That was yds allowed, which is, as Joe noted, how defensive rankings are typically given.ucant wrote:Is this yards... pts allowed... what?
Based on pts allowed, here is how Vick's teams have done on defense:
8th
30th
14th
18th
15th
21st
Comes out to an average of 18th in the league.
Either way you want to rank it, Vick has not played on teams with strong defenses, and yet he has still managed to put up a 47-32 record as a starter.
I haven't seen as many of his games as Buttsy has, and I haven't seen any red-zone stats on him - too lazy to look and really don't care enough.
I just find the "overrated" tag interesting ---> in light of him being a solid WINNER, despite not getting much support from a defense.

Yeah... I get that. However, I think it's a shit stat. Many defenses scheme to make you earn the yards between the 20s then tighten up in the red zone.
Points allowed is a more accurate indicator of how good a defense is. So thanks for digging that up.

Except that the defense can control the yards they give up and the offensive scores they give up, but they can’t control the pick-6s their QB throws, the fumbles that their RB coughs up or the kick returns their special teams give up. Yards allowed are the best gauge.ucantdoitdoggieSTyle2 wrote:poptart wrote:That was yds allowed, which is, as Joe noted, how defensive rankings are typically given.ucant wrote:Is this yards... pts allowed... what?

Re: Falcons.
I'm not sure, Goob.
I think both measures have flaws.
If you go by yds allowed, what about the "garbage time" yds a defense often gives up while playing soft to protect a lead in the 4th quarter?
Look at games where one QB throws for 350 yds.
They often happen in a LOSS.

Is that the one that's (Estimated)? The site you’ve linked is a stat-geek site. You can have the last word... my only comment here is to say that I love that site (the one I linked up, not nfl.com.)
If you're into running numbers, it's pretty awesome. Like, NE averaging 18.7 PPGA in the second half is very telling. And a recurring theme. Belichick is great at putting together a game plan.
However.
At halftime, the other team makes adjustments and he/his staff cannot seem to react. Lotta 2nd half melting.

Absolutely. Make a few new plays up - expend them all in the first half, then watch Ryan throw 2 yard out passes & go 3 & out the rest of the night. In short - they quit (again) in the second half.
Falcons are headed straight down the shitter. Oh - they might go 7-9 this year at very best, but I've seen this scenario too many times in the past.
