Naw, you were all over it, Van.

Those of us who do not regard ourselves as Board technicians got the inference right away. In many ways, Goodbye England's Rose is more heartfelt and beautiful than Norma Jean ever will ever be. Candle in the Wind, indeed.

But The One Board BEING The One Board...

Dude, in all honesty I had completely forgotten about the "Goodbye English Rose" thing. I really didn't remember that he made a version where he completely swapped the lyrics to fit Lady Di. Nonetheless, I somehow still had it swimming around in my head that "Candle in the Wind" was her song, even though I always knew it was about Marilyn Monroe.

Agreed. The hell were the Stones? And they couldn't muster some form of Floyd or Zep reunion?!

But we get some un-named tart NOBODY has ever heard of to cover UK songs poorly? For real? Why am I left thinking America might just make a better go of it next time around?

As skanky as this one was, just imagine what Brazil might do. I wouldn't put it past them to incorporate live sex and MMA into the Opening Ceremonies finale, with Spider Silver assfucking Gina Carano amid a troupe of writhing Carnival trannies decked out in rhinestone cockrings and green and yellow nipple pasties.
