those houses are still around. partially because they were built with brick and there's a ton of brick around here. partially because people left the areas where these houses were and redeveloped far away from the city. and they've still got carriage houses in back but no horses.

friend's parents have a stone block streetside at the end of their walkway. it was a step where the ladies got down from the carriages. half the houses on that block still got 'em.

Not to hockey up the thread, but if/when they ever play again, go see a game at either Staples or HP Pavilion when you're in CA. I've been to many games at both places and there isn't a bad seat in either building. And contrary to the stereotype of "typical CA fans", both Sharks and Kings fans are so into the game that regular season games damn near feel like the playoffs.
