Yes the top 10 wages did increase just before the bankruptcy filing from $3.7 million to $7.6 million. However this doesn't account for the elimination of all executive bonuses. So total executive comp actually was unchanged.

But later in the article it states the top 4 executives agreed to lower their salaries to $1 thru the end of the year. Even with the base salary increases the total compensation to the top 10 executives falls to $2.8 million. This is $4.8 million below the pre-bankruptcy total compensation.

So the executives actually reduced their take home while the union was unwilling to do anything.

Hell, even if the executives took the new wages, it was still only a drop in the ocean. Union pension obligations were over $100 million a year. Here's an idea unions, mix in a 401K like the rest of the country.

So how many hostess union employees would it take to reach $7.6 mil in salary?

The better question is how many does it take to reach one billion in pension liabilities and health care costs? Care to step up to the mound?
