If I'm LAPD, I give them a new truck only if they sign an ironclad agreement to seek no further compensation. Otherwise, they take the truck, then sue the dept for a fuckload of caysh. Not saying they're not entitled to it, but why make a compensatory offer that will effectively serve as merely a down payment on what they'll ultimately be awarded in court?
