Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
I'm guessing Chieffan is loving him some DAT right now.
First touch in the NFL was an 80 yard house call.
Us PAC fans are pretty much used to it. If he doesn't get injured, he'll do it again and again.
And will never be any sort of every-down player.

Yes, and it's pre-season. What's your point?
For that matter, what was your point poptart?

Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
The point is obvious.
As I said in my 2nd post in the thread, "the media" intends to hammer away at the fact that M. Sam needs to suck cock, and needs for his cocksucking be known, with an undue level of attention until...
a) Sam is glorified or shown as being persecuted.
b) Males (usually white) are shown to be homophobic and intolerant.
He's a nothing player at this point.
His "debut" being NFL.com's 3rd headline is absurd, and it just clearly points out what a few of us have been saying.
"The media" has an agenda.

Who reads NFL.com?
It's obvious you were going out of your way to find a Sam headline, so you could race in here and express your "outrage."
OMG! A MICHAEL SAM DEBUT STORY THREE LINKS DOWN ON A WEBSITE I DON'T CARE ABOUT! THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS!

Indeed, who even watches the NFL?
The fact of the matter is the media is making Sam a story, and at this point the only difference between him and other late round picks is he came out of the closet.

We know. You brought it up three days ago.poptart wrote:NFL.com had his preseason debut as the third story on their front page.
That the best you can do? Where's the out of control media frenzy, the circus show, the live look-ins, The Sports Center updates, talk radio blather, etc.? One link "three stories down" on the day of his debut that you sought out -- and weren't "bombarded" with -- is all you've got?
Let's be honest. You aren't the least bit bothered by this...but you're trying your damnedest to be.
Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
I'm actually quite adamant about Sam's right to get with whoever the fuck he wants, regardless of how depraved you or I or anyone else thinks it is -- part of living in a fee society is taking the good with the bad, and a true patriot defends things he doesn't agree with in the name of freedom.
Sam "came out" publically because people knew, and it would have come to light regardless. I don't believe he could have handled his situation any better than he did. He's the one who made it a non-issue.
Actually, at this point, I hope he tears NFL offenses a new asshole (FIGURATIVELY), because watching thumpers melt is good entertainment.

He wanted people to know on his own terms. Yes, it's pathetic that he would need or want to do that, but we're still living in the stone ages in some respects. NFL.com's current front page looks like this...
Sam gets first sack
St. Louis Rams defensive end Michael Sam earned his first NFL sack
in the team's 21-7 preseason loss to Green Bay on Saturday. In his quest
to make an NFL roster, is there more in store for Sam?

Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
Hey everybody ease up on ole blue light, if you spent 99% of your web surfing here, you wouldn't notice the Sam travaganza either. Its normal for 7th round picks to get that type of coverage for making a tackle.....
Butkus didn't wear an earring.
Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
Again, who cares? I'm not a St. Louis Rams fan and I don't give a shit about 7th round defensive end who's balls can be considered mudflaps when he's pitching to his man companion.Papa Willie wrote:Yup.
And Sam Baker doesn't have good enough luck to play in the NFL. He'll be fucked for the rest of his career more than likely. Of course - that's not NEARLY as big a deal as a fag getting a fucking tackle...
If I were a St. Louis Rams fan and it was all over their specialty blogs, then I'd be upset, but I'm not so I don't care if ESPN and/or the NFL Network wants to cover this shit stuffer 24/7.
Same goes for Manziel. I don't watch it 'cus I'm not a Browns fan. I don't care who starts for the Browns until they play the Texans.

Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
Hard to get excited about games being played by preseason scrubs, many of whom won't be on the final roster. Then when you do want a run down of the starters one of the headlines is about Sam & his one tackle or sack.
I can see the headlines now for the 1st week of the season.
Manning passes for 509 yards
Brady leads 4th qtr come back
Sam recovers fumbled kick return
Megatron good for 136 yards & 2 TDs
Peterson rushes for 3 TDs
McCoy has TD &162 yds rush/receiving

Too small for one position and not fast enough for another has been the knock on him the whole time.Goober McTuber wrote:Goober McTuber wrote:Seriously? A "mini weekly circus"? First of all, I doubt he will make the team.
If he could play, any team would deal with the media horseshit (yes, there was more than I thought. Ya got me). But he can't and they teams aren't going waste one of ten practice squad spots on someone who can't.
No matter how you slice it, Michael Sam has a better chance at winning a pussy eating contest than playing in the NFL.

Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
There was little doubt he'd find a new place to call home, at least temporarily.
I watched him play and all bullshit aside, he didn't win SEC defensive player of the year by polishing knobs.
Teams are understandably cautious about the media circus he carries but talent on the field will be the ultimate decider.

Re: Dungy's Comments About Michael Sam
Many college players never make it. Colin Cowherd had a good take on his show today. Giving many examples of Alabama players who were studs in college that never latched on a team. Vince Young was another example. Sam's problem is lack of talent. being too slow to play on special teams is one reason he's on the outside looking in. Only half the league plays a 4-3 defensive front is another. His best chance is probably up in Canada.

For clarification, Vince Young didn't play for Bama (but you knew that).Joe in PB wrote:Giving many examples of Alabama players who were studs in college that never latched on a team. Vince Young was another example.
And if giving examples of great college players that didn't make great pro players is a "take," then you should probably pack a lunch and help the Deciders buy a new server. I could crash your computer with them.

His take was there have been a lot better college players than Sam that haven't made the NFL, and the only reason Sam is news is because he came out of the closet.
