That kind of air definitely sucks.
I hear the Seattle has been having the same sort of summer.

We haven't actually had any smoke problems around here this year. Yet. All fires have been at least 30 miles away and anything even that close has not blown in this direction. Meltspray will probably accuse me of melting for saying that. He seems to think I'm suffocating in the stuff.

All of our smoke is coming from well over 30 miles away. Most of it a couple hundred miles away. But there's this huge hole through the mountains on the northeast corner of town (where I'm about to head off too). Unlike last year, where there was a monster fire at the western edge of that huge hole (Columbia River Gorge). Not nearly as bad as last year, but still kinda sucks when you can stare directly at the sun on a summer day with no ill-effects.

I've come to realize that I don't agree with everything any president does.

Big-government regulatory over reach.
Much of the time yes, but I do agree in this case.

I assume you're referring to the big one off the coast last night?

Regardless, the answer is no. Last night's was off Coos Bay, which is a long way from here. Apparently, some people in the Portland area felt the ground move (around here, how much one feels a distant quake depends on what type of ground one is on, which varies greatly. I'm guessing that's the same just about everywhere).
