I handed over 35-40% of my gross income to the government last year.

The government is shut down. I would expect my everyday life to have been affected by about 35-40%.

It has been affected by 0%.

So I want to know, what the fuck did I get for my money? Food inspections, ScrewMyLife?

Meh...It is unlikely anyone is handing over that much to the Feds in income taxes. But he also didn’t say the Feds, he said government. If he is meaning all government it could be close what with property taxes, state taxes, sales taxes, etc.

That's true, but my main point was that he would somehow expect an immediate effect of the shutdown, to himself personally in his everyday life, that would be proportional to the amount of taxes he pays.
