Hardly. What have most of us on both sides of the political spectrum in here been discussing recently? If you answered spending cuts, props. This would be a good start. If you are a non essential employee in times of weather or natural disaster or shut down, you should be let go.

The furloughing of hundreds of Food and Drug Administration inspectors has sharply reduced inspections of the nation’s food supply — one of many repercussions of the partial government shutdown that make Americans potentially less safe.

The agency, which oversees 80 percent of the food supply, has suspended all routine inspections of domestic food-processing facilities, FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said in an interview. He said he’s working on a plan to bring back inspectors as early as next week to resume inspections of high-risk facilities, which handle foods such as soft cheese or seafood, or have a history of problems.

“We are doing what we can to mitigate any risk to consumers through the shutdown,” Gottlieb said.

I saw some of the memes of the Chuckie & Nancy Show, most of which were pretty funny. One said something to the effect of this was the expression your parents had when as a teenager you missed curfew and tried to sneak back in the house, but they were waiting up for you in the living room.

The general sense of the whole thing for me was that Trump used the opportunity well by keeping it short and to the point: 9 minutes long (brevity being next to godliness) and discussing that his prime responsibility as president is to keep the US safe and secure its borders. C&N had some mealy mouthed response about walls being immoral (and this was after Trump brought up that both of them have walls around their houses) and if only Trump would reopen the government they promise to maybe, possibly, might, could discuss border security some day in the distant future.

Trump won this round, hands down.
