The White House prevented all relevant witnesses (Mulvaney, McGahn, Pompeo, etc) from testifying in front of either the House or Senate so it could convince kneepad wearers that the Ds were acting "very unfairly". Also because they damn well know that their testimony under oath would be utterly damning to Trump and his organized crime family.
Instead, the GOP refused to address any of the evidence presented at the House hearings and instead turned it into a circus so it could accuse the Ds of running a circus.
And of course, checking the pulse of the Trump kneepadders who work here, that has worked according to plan.
