The best part of Against All Odds was the theme song -- but only because of the ending. Rachel Ward played a 14 year old in a 24 year old's body. The ending rubbed me the wrong way. If you've seen True Blood, Rachel's character is spiritually kin to the character of Crystal Norris.
Theme song is a Top 10 80s movie theme, though. Good choice.

That's what happened in Breakfast at Tiffanys.....Holly was a 14 year old runaway and they made her Audrey Hepburn in the movie.

No. I'm saying Rachel Ward's character made childish choices for childish reasons, because she was ultimately manipulated by her mother and her mother's air quote "business partner". She may have had the pussy of a grown woman, but her actions came from the brain of a spoiled brat. The whole thing with her mother was sick, and not feminist. She wasn't really returning to her old boyfriend, she was returning to her mother while simultaneously manipulating the football dude.
The movie thought it was slick with how it dealt with the four men who knew all of the dirt Rachel's mother was involved in. Watch it for the sex scenes, I guess, though they're pretty much tame now in the era of pornhub?

I agree about the ending, which is why I didn't like the ending, was disappointed with the movie, and hated Rachel's character. The song is still cool, though.
There was no character growth. There was a choice to grow which was willfully denied.
I disagree about his body. Hollywood ugly isn't just for women. Watch the movie again -- and not just the parts where Rachel spreads her legs.
The whole story began in the first place because Jeff's body was broken down by that violent 70's smashmouth football Papa Willie wants to return to in the Pro Bowl thread. He's delusional about returning to the game. Webster's dad wants him to take on a mentor role -- you know, grow up -- by trying to steer him into coaching. Jeff doesn't want to coach. He wants his body back, he wants his youth back, he wants to be the star again.
Fucking Rachel is a return to youth.
He's still delusional when he honestly believes they can get away with owning up to their individual sins (which is mature) as long as they have each other (which would have meant more if they did more than fuck all summer).
In the end, she returns to being her mother's daughter, and he returned to being a million dollar slave -- aka someone's son -- for one year. The story is a tragedy, but not because of a great love denied.
