AOC raised $1,000,000 yesterday for Texas emergency relief. What has #FledCruz done for his own state?

And based on Left Behinder's post Texas needs a senator who will work to improve the state education system enough for graduates to know the difference between "their" & "there."

Yes. The first place they can save is to stop wasting money trying to ensure the stability of the electric grid.
Nope. We need 25% across the board spending reductions. No line item is exempt.

Then that 25% that isn’t spent should be used on debt reduction.

Future deficit spending should require 2/3rds approval of both Chambers.

And DiS is the poster boy for typical liberal Democrats. Repeated shots at a GOP member who doesn’t represent him while ignoring the actions of his liberal heroes that are worse.

"Ignoring the actions of his heroes" isn't something anything that should come from the piehole of any republican, especially after the Senate trial vote.

You should try researching subjects before mashing the submit button. It was voted as Constitutional, and then the most of the Republicans voted to acquit tRump. If the Republicans didn't feel it was a constitutional trial why did they engage in the unconstitutional action of participating in it by voting?

They might as well start voting on the Constitutionality of the bills they pass.

And for all the talk about Fled Cruz doing nothing but crossing the border to make life better for his family Texas' other senator (John Cornyn hasn't done shit for the people of Tejas, either.

Perhaps this storm will wake up Texans to the stupidity of voting for a party that only looks out for themselves.

Israel will drain the US dry before giving up that source of income.

The rapture christers are not going to be happy with Israel spreading its legs for China, though. But what can they do? Being a lick is an addiction, and a religious calling.

What loyalty has all the money, arms and donations for Istaeli widows bought, in the end?

Israel is the true whore of babylon. And whores only provide the experience of a loving relationship, not the real thing.

So we'll continue to waste money on invisible line items enriching other people, while our citizens suffer for rewards after death.

She answers to the voters, and her actions show it.

Fled Cruz & John Cornyn are also always auditioning, but they do so to corporations. In this case it's to the oil & gas industries ($3.8 million for Cruise alone).

We're agreeing, not disagreeing.

Example: Kamala Harris has never answered to the voters. She's VP (and acting co-president with Jill) now, because of whom she spent 40 years truly auditioning to.

AOC is riding populism and pussy. Pussy has a shelf-life, though. (Sexual harassment blackmail doesn't.) AoC has to have more than fickle voters with loose change at her back.

What happens after the fundraising?

Ask the TX politicians. They're the ones who made their energy policy to be an island unto themselves, thus "freeing themselves" from regulation. Just the way that Jerry Jones likes it.

In the middle of a cold snap of biblical proportions and the first one since they went all in on bird killers, it is very understandable that shit has gone sideways.

They'll learn from it and harden the systems to deal with the next time AGW decides to go to Cancun for a week or two.

What will this be? Will they modify every pinwheel so that it can fuction when this happens again in 2042 or maybe 2078?

They may or they may just beef up the rest of the system so they can run during the winter 100% on things other than windmills.

Or maybe they build future birdkillers with defrosters. Any system is generally easier and cheaper
to build from the factory rather than field retrofit. I would think that adding resistance coils internally doesn't cost too much and will work. You see cold weather coming, turn on the toaster a few hours before the cold hits so the blades are toasty warm when the cold shit hits the fan.

As for the wisdom of going it alone, It would prolly be a bad idea for Rhode Island to do it. But Teeeehas is a tad bigger and is blessed with the geography where large scale birdkilling errrr green power generation at least comes close to making sense. They also know that if they put themselves at the mercy of DC, it will most likely suck.

So, while being tied into places that could feed them power made sense last week. Odds are it won't for the future, esecially if they learn something from this and do what needs doing to deal with the next cold snap. For legacy power systems, this should be laughably easy. A few fiberglass batt and some duct tape.

Would you or anyone else care to make a wager on grid stability over the next 5 years between Texas and Cali? I'll go with Texas and even give Cali some points.

Wrong. There were plenty of wind turbines in Texas during the 2011 freeze. I posted a link about this a few days ago.

Almost exactly the same thing happened, but to a lesser degree, even with the failures in the gas distribution system. They were supposed to get together and fix it. I guess somebody forgot.
The Rolling Chain of Events Behind Texas Blackouts
What happened yesterday to cause the rolling power blackouts across Texas? A chain reaction of problems involving the state's coal and gas appeared to be the cause — and wind plants were having trouble, too.

https://www.texastribune.org/2011/02/03 ... blackouts/

...

Is the problem solved? "We think we're probably going to be okay today, and obviously it's going to warm up from there," said Fraser.

In the next couple of weeks, after the crisis passes, Fraser said he would call a hearing on the blackouts to figure out what happened and how to fix it. He noted that there were "a lot of unusual circumstances" to this storm, and that while Texas was well-prepared for spiking electricity usage in the summer, "to my knowledge we've never been tested for an event during the winter." But it's clearly imperative to fix the system, he said. The Public Utility Commission, which oversees ERCOT, met this morning and is also investigating the cause of the power-plant problems, spokesman Terry Hadley said.
