It was said a few times in the press briefing that "sky monitoring" has been ramped up in the wake of the "Chinese spy balloon" encounter a week ago.
And with increased scrutiny of the sky, we have now had a rash of objects sightings and downings.

In a round-about way, we are being told that such objects have been flying around previously, but have basically been ignored.

Can anyone on this board remember a time when the U.S. military shot down an object over North America?
The spokesman said it has never happened before.

Now we've had a few shoot-downs in just a week's time.
Not normal at all.
Very alarming, actually.

Senator Kennedy says multiple times here that objects such as these have been flying around for a long time.

Only now has the U.S. begun to actively shoot them down.
