Shelter is more important than greed.

Sadly long term homelessness is often a choice made due to drug and alcohol abuse. Then there is the mental health issue that many homeless are dealing with.

But if having a home is a right, why not start with pilot programs in NY and CA. Hell, start in AOC’s own city, NYC. But just providing people a home doesn’t work unless you address the underlying issues. See large scale Public Housing. See also the NYC program that put homeless people in hotel rooms.

AOC put up or shut up in your home town. When that becomes a model program, roll it out to the rest of the country.

Here’s the thing though, as wonderful and fluffy as it sounds if Proggs got their way and in addition to free college everyone got a free home too, the reality is without the essential element of personal sacrifice and financial skin in the game, these homes become ruined in months, if not weeks of move-in. It is a disaster all the way around for the new home owners, the neighbors, and the community at large.
