At the end of January, The Bad Orange Man put limits on travel from China. Anyone with any firing brain cells understands this was done to limit US exposure from a nasty bug which might become a problem.

Morons who have to criticize everything he does called it racism.

This tells me that they weren't worried about this becoming a problem. If they did have concerns, they put them aside for political reasons.

The number one thing you can do with any pandemic is limit spread through limiting movement of people. It is what we are doing now.

They have said NO, everyone continue moving. The solution is testing!!!! Actually, they are now on the limit movement bandwagon, but that is more to crash the economy than anything else.

They've taken this strategy because testing is one area where our public health system was behind the curve on. I put that on the public health experts, starting with Fauci.

Testing would not have stopped this pandemic. It might of given us a little bit of help with isolating those with it and it is essential for getting back to normal.

As to the question of whether or not limiting travel helped?

If you want actual numbers, take a look at Italy where local government, also suffering from TDS told its people, "go out and hug a chinaman".

Look at their numbers. They suffered far greater, earlier than we.

Part of the explanation of these numbers is age demographics, but limiting travel is also a big part.

Agreed and TSA is a perfect example. People love to say the TSA has prevented terrorist attacks. Oh really? If so why does the TSA fail so many of their audit checks at actual security points? Why do most of us have stories of carrying item then security that we should have had beyond security but forgot were in our possession? Why can’t they trumpet some plot they brought down? Fact is the TSA is a typical bloated government agency that isn’t that good at finding things and is waging a war on things like water mostly because airports want the revenue of purchases in their stores before flight.

So again, why should these be government workers and paid at government worker scales?
