The greed of oil companies, politicians, and pharmecutical companies cost me many, many, many times more than smokers could ever do. As do elected leaders who ignore the illegal immigration problem.

Jimmy wants to eliminate smoking because he thinks it drives up the cost of health care. While he's right on that point, he's wrong to isolate that as the only behavior to raise health care costs. Others here have done a fine job of pointing out other habits that do the same (although usually the ones pointing their finger at overweight people as all being over-eaters are people with high metabolism rates ).

My contention is that smoking is a habit that effects more than the person who engages in that filthy addiction. To paraphrase someone earlier, they can consider cigarettes to be as bad as Big Macs when scientists discover "second-hand diabetes."
