It takes a rather simpleminded 'agnostic' to look at the Jews being persecuted (as prophesied) by every major civilization they have come into contact with over the last three millennia, surviving as a people and a culture, and coming back together in the same land where it all began (also as prophesied) and chalk it all down to coincidence and happenstance. And every civilizition who oppressed them going into rapid decline, BTW (more prophecy there). Just another case of serendipty (sounds more 'scientific' than God's Will, I guess).

Don't think it won't happen, either.

The status quo will not continue to work. Either Israel will be wiped from the map or she'll need to expand in order to better secure her safety. She won't be able to maintain her security while remaining so small of a nation surrounded by fanatical enemies. Eventually those 20 mile rockets of the enemy will become 500 mile rockets and then there'll be no safe place in Israel.

This is the main folly of the Arab world. Rather than simply live with the indignity that is the existence of a very tiny Israel that just wishes to be left alone in their tiny spit of land the Arabs are going to force feed themselves their worst nightmare...a much larger and much more aggressive Israel which was forced into swallowing up the lands of and displacing all the peoples of Lebanon, Jordan and quite possibly Syria.

One or the other, it's got to happen. Either Israel gets destroyed or Israel expands.

No, my point was a refutation of Dio's point that the creation of Israel shouldn't be construed as a coincidental quirk of history predicated upon the evil doings of Hitler and Stalin and the resulting humanitarian action taken by the U.S. and Great Britian. No, he's positing that everything leading up to the forming of modern day Israel was all just the fulfillment of God's supposed promise to the Jews to finally bring them back together in their own sacred homeland.

To me, nope, that's just not going to work. If I'm a Jew I'm thinking that God could've granted my people our reunion in our sacred homeland without first slaughtering 2/3rds of us...

In that case, fuck God. The savior we've been waiting on for thousands of years, our very own christ, the one who'll deliver unto us our own sacred homeland...that prophesied savior turned out to be...the fucking crematorium?? (And make no mistake, that's what finally prompted the world to take pity on the Jews. News of their wholesale slaughter was the impetus for finally granting them their own safe haven back in their ancestral homeland...)

If that still is going over your head, all I am saying is that A) The survival of millenia of persecution, genocide and opression by the Jews B) The subsequent decline and fall of all their oppressers and C) Their ability to repossess their ancestral home with their culture intact after so many years is historicaly unprescedented, improbable bordering on the miraculous (unless you're an 'agnostic', of course) and fortold in the scriptures.

That means God had his hand in it.

That means God either stood idly by or, worse, he choreographed the events that led to the creation of Israel.

Why don't you move to Haifa? I understand there's a few new vacancies opened for brave settlers and fulfillers, etc. Euros only, however.
