I'm already envisioning my wife's already prolonged ordering process evolving into an interrogation of the waitress. Maybe I'll waterboard her as a birthday present to the OL

In the parts of the country with authentic mexicans, they usually call that an "enchilada."

Original Pancake House. Not a chain. Just a freakshow.
Either there, or
Voodoo Doughnut...grab a doughnut and get a wedding ceremony at 3AM.
I don't think they have a Cici's Pizza anywhere near here. Odd, since there's a whole buncha radio advertising for it. I'm sure it sucks, but I go on the theory that anyplace that's willing to give me all I can eat and drink for 5 bones or less gets a thumbs-up. As long as the salas is fresh, I'll get my licks in.

So? That's not what it's called at the place I was talking about (although they do serve enchiladas). Was I supposed to lie?

So?
So, you've given me an idea. I will open up a fairly rank hamburger stand, but instead of calling my 30% fat ground beef shitburger a "hamburger," I'll instead call it a "filet mignon."
What a bit of marketing brilliance that would be, eh?
Does this place also have "Cheese between two tortillas" on the menu? Because they have another name for that, too.
Freakin U&Mers...sheesh.

I don't give a fuck what they call it or how they market it. It's damn fucking delicious, so I order it, I eat it, and I enjoy it.

Cheesecake Factory -- Try the spicy cashew chicken. Good stuff.
Panera is kind of "out there." I think I had a water buffalo sandwich on cattail bread, garnished with oak leaves and asbestos sauce.

Pretty sure enchiladas are normally made with corn tortillas.
Burritos, "wet" or not, with flour.

It may be fast and cheap in you parts but it ain't good, fast, and cheap mesican food if the name doesn't end with an o's
Sin,
Roberto's, Alberto's, Rigoberto's, Nico's
BTW, enchilada's are "baked" in sauce. Something wrapped in a tortilla and slathered in enchilada sauce an enchilada it is not, it is just a "wet" burrito.

For the Franchises - Outback is a decent meal and they are everywhere, as is the Italian version Caraba's. The also have a seafood concept called Bonefish that's not too bad.
There's a sportsbar chain I've been to in the midwest called Fox and Hound - good eats and atmosphere.
And I'll go ahead and toss out Chili's - They also own Macaroni Grill and On the border - below the above mentioned, but at least consistent from city to city

The El Cid in Oakhurst was pretty good several years ago. I would imagine the outlets in the valley would be decent as well.

Don't know where the Whatburger haters have been eating, but in Texas, especially South Texas Whatburger is king and perhaps the best fast food burger around. I ate that double meat jalapeno burger today. Plus during the early 80s they used to sell coffee mugs with their logo with a nickel refill. Still honor that five cent cup of coffee today. Anyone who would put Wendys, BK, McDonalds, or Sonic above Whataburger is a dumbass.

I was just being a smartass.
Mexican Food here is plentiful and outstanding. Since the valley is a melting pot of every form of Legal and Illegal Hispanic imaginable we get a lot of different dishes from all over Mexico and Central America. El Cid is still good but some of that family started their own restaurant called Toledos.
Outfuckingstanding Food.

1) Famous dave's' - Equivalent of methadone for this rib junkie until the spring and summer months when I get to have Arthur Bryants in Kansas City following the Twins.
2)Schlotzky's - They serve up one fucked up but tasty sandwich...
3) Golden Corral- Seedy, Buffet style, steaks that taste eerily like horsemeat, Guys serving up steaks don't understand or speak a word of English..But just about everyhting else rocks including the Chili and the dessert bar..Great place to chow down when famished...
4) Cracker Barrel - the Russian Tea Room for trailer park folk and Carnys everywhere, but theres always one wherever I go...And the meatloaf has me hypnotized.

To follow up Y2K and Diego posts, Toledo's IS the best Mexican chain in this area. There is a new one one mile away. I didn't know they are branched off from El Cid's. There are so many Mexican restaurants around here that aren't franchises it isn't even funny. Also there are no shortage of Mexicans around here either.

They have a Famous Dave's here now out by the KS Speedway. I've heard it's quite good. I'll have to try it someday.
If you're in KC, go to one of the 3 Smokehouse BBQ's and thank me later. Arthur Byants is ok, but I've never really liked the sauce that much. I think they get by just on reputation alone. Back in the day, Arthur Bryants and Gates were the BBQ mecca's, but the bar has been raised since then.

Outback is a salesman's best friend. Consistent, no matter where you are. Cosistently average though.
Whomever mentioned Cici's deserves to be hung and quartered. That shit is... well shit. Horrible excuse for pizza.
Wish someone would franchise a deec Thai restaurant. I could eat that shit every day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

To each their own I guess(cuz I can't get enough of the Rich and spicy), But I'll definitely check Smokehouse out since locals ALWAYS know the best places ro eat. The wife will definitely thank you since she acts like were driving into downtown Tehran everytime I exit onto Prospect avenue.
Thanks..

Have ya had In-N-Out? That is by far the best fast food burger I have ever had. I especially love their
not so secret "secret menu." Mmmm, animal style with fries well done. Not to mention the fact that its like $3.50 for a single combo.

I think I've propped Denny's at some point... yesterday I ate at one for the first time in a few years. For some reason I got an upset stomach and had multiple BM's that kept me up until the anti-D pills kicked in.
So as a fine franchise to frequent, Denny's isn't one of them. In other words, don't go there for any reason. As a bonus, it took the consuelas 25 minutes to get me my order out.I blame Bush.

Yup, it sucks. While I wont go as far as to say its ten steps below BK and McD, I see no appeal in the greasy burger nor the tasteless fries. I can always find something better when on the road. And I've tried them from McAllen to San Antonio to Austin to Dallas to Houston. They all suck equally.

Well, unfortunately this thread motivated me to go to Denny's yesterday morning after buying a cordless tool combo kit, 2 propane tanks, and a few other things.
It was about 6:30 AM and there wasn't that many people in there and it took 20 minutes for the food to show up. I would hate to be black that day.
The "food" was pretty bad and I had the shits the rest of the day. Should have listened to the Dins' of the board for an accurate assessment of that fucking joint. Bad move both literally and figuratively.
