No, the real story is that it took over 80 FUCKING YEARS for this match up to happen.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is Super Bowl 41, i.e. the first one was played 40 years ago.
Thay've been playing NFL football for over 80 years. Not sure if you know it, but there have been NFL Championship Games played since 1933. That's 74 years. So I was off by 6 years. Sue me.

Just made my day seeing a real class guy like Tony Dungy get over on Belijerk.
First time seeing Belichick fielding questions on TV, huh?
Let me tell you something... dude acted in the very same manner he
always does. Whether it's pre-game, post game, halftime (I think he refuses to do those, btw) or any day of the week that rhymes with "ChargerFanIsGay", dude is very terse. He doesn't pander to the media like most coaches do. He gives them...
nothing. He's had the same MO since his Cleveland days. He doesn't want to be there. He doesn't want anyone to know what was going on in his mind before, during, or after the game. He feels teams may use the info against him down the road. What is so classless about this statement:
"It was a very tough football game against a good team. You've got to give the Colts credit; they made more plays than we did, and they deserved to win. It was about as competitive a game as you can get. They just made a couple more plays than we did."
Dude acts the same way after a win as he does with a loss. He is consistent. He doesn't like answering some reporter's stupid questions. He feels it's none of their business. He doesn't like singling out players accomplishments or gushing over his team after a win... so why would you expect him to sing the praises of his opponent and its players after a loss.
Why must all Chargers fans be such faggots?
Thanks for making my point U, you waxed far more eloquent to prove what I said...Belijerk is a consistent a-hole.

just the game ...and less on sack dances, whining to the media after a loss, Diet Pepsi commercials, and Belichick's pressers. Face it, your team lost to the Patriots... so you're now a part of Pats Hayta Nation. Former Bucs and current Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy did not like the provocative towel-dropping promo aired by ABC prior to the network's most recent Monday Night Football broadcast.
"I thought it was uncalled for," Dungy said. "I thought it was in really bad taste."
So did Chicago coach Lovie Smith.
"I was shocked, just like most other people were at the time. It should not have happened, and I can't believe it did happen," Smith said.
Nine months after CBS found itself apologizing and was fined $500,000 by the Federal Communications Commission when Janet Jackson's right breast was exposed during halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII, ABC opened itself up to questions regarding inappropriate prime time programming.
Its lead-in to the Philadelphia-Dallas game on Monday night served as a promotion for the network's Desperate Housewives, ABC's racy Sunday night series. It included Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens and Nicollette Sheridan, one of the series' co-stars.
Owens was wearing his uniform. Sheridan, it appeared, was wearing only a towel.
At one point, Sheridan dropped the towel and jumped in Owens' arms.
Dungy was offended on many levels. As an African-American, he considered the segement racially insensitive. As an NFL coach, he considered it totally inappropriate for ABC to use the league's popularity to hype "trashy shows."
Only a flaming racist fucktard like Dungheap could see that as an issue of
racism.
Inappropriate and tasteless...quite possibly. Racist? Speaks volumes about what a tard Dungy is(PSSSTTT! Hey Dungy...a black guy got the acting job...give it a rest)
"You would have thought more than one team out of nine would say that here's a guy that should be at least talked to," Dungy told Sports Illustrated last week. "And you can only beg the question in your mind: If he were white, would it have been one out of nine. I would suggest more than one team would have talked to him with the credentials he has and what he's done the past two years."
Were you at the meetings and interviews, Tony? Yeah, didn't think so. Isn't it odd how often the "racist" accusations come out when someone doesn't get the very high-paying job they wanted?
Do you actually follow football at all, Felix? Doesn't look that way, since if you did you'd know that "scream racism from the mountaintops" has been Dungy's MO for about 30 years.

I'm sure he read it, but I'm also sure he's fully aware that "the squeaky wheel" gets the grease. Besides, just because YOU don't see a wolf, doesn't mean that there's isn't one AMONG MANY, lurking about and that Dungy hasn't encountered said "wolf".
Believe me though, I fully comprehend your suggestion and agree with it. But the benefit of the doubt of said wolf's existence needs to be given to the "cryer" in my opinion. Then with attentive ears and an open mind, we can discern the validity of said wolf's existence.
That's more than $.02 but this isn't the forum for it. Keep the change.

No. But when you combine that straw with the haystack of bullshit racist remarks he's made over the last 30 years, his point has been made.
You're talking about a guy who bitched about not getting a starting QB job in the NFL...then went out and threw a pick just about every snap he took.
For some reason, in your warped little word, if you don't remember shit happening, it must have never happened.
Dungy has clearly displayed a "pattern." It involves blaming "racism" for all of his personal failures.
It's not my fault. Fuck off, Dungy.

Dungy didn't make any "racial breakthroughs" in any other year, either.
What did he have to overcome...working his way up through the coaching ranks, just like all of the white guys have?
Here's a good word for the day...
perspective. Jackie Robinson didn't break down any "racial barrier" -- the guy who put him on the field did. Where's his credit? The man has been a victim of "reverse racism," despite his heroic acts. I'll bet Dungy can't even name the guy.
Few people are denying that racism has been prevalent in the past...and Dungy has milked that fact for every last bit he can. Hell, this guy cries "racism" when he doesn't like the adult content of a pregame promo(and has never actually ever been able to explain the specifics of his ludicrous claims).

The whole promo was based on the "myth". Just think how tough it must be to be a brutha, everytime some white woman wants to bed down with you she's expecting Lexington Steele and you're just an average dude.

Does anybody know what the hell they're talking about these days? Mace, thanks for the dose of reality; even though I'm sorry to say that for the most part, it fell on deaf/dumb ears.
First off Dins, WHAAAAAAHHH! Fucking cry me a river, OK. Most people on here are so afraid of your little stalker routine, that they'll never stand up and tell you how full of shit you are sometimes. This time, I'm here to tell you: YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT on this one!!!!
Anybody with a even an average brain could argue your POV with your version of "proof". You know, the so called "proof" that you lathered on everyone earlier on in this thread, (and some dipshits like mvscal are gonna believe you; hook, line and sinker).
Let me bring one thing up though, that rips your whole whiney ass story to shreds. It's called context, and for those of you who don't comprehend well, Dinsdale is using Dungy's comments "out of context" to try to vilify him. It's all bullshit. Where you want to condemn, maybe you should tell the WHOLE story, (opps, I forgot, that would make you whole argument SHIT), in the correct context.
You see, here in the Indy market, we saw the whole interview live, and don't have to rely on some U&L propagandist to form our opinions of what kind of guy he really is. What really happened is that the
commentator tried bringing up the whole race card angle, and Dungy tried to tip-toe around it (and did it with class, IMHO).
Now, back to your whole "proof' shit; here's some real proof, the proof that you couldn't (or wouldn't) provide.
Dungy's REAL comments about "this is history"
To be fair, yes, Tony has gone out of his way to let people know that he's both proud of his accomplishments in life/NFL, and proud of being African American. I guess you could also say he's "championed the cause" to a certain extent over the years, to try to influence young black men to strive for something better/higher.....big fucking deal. The man has a right to be proud, and no amount of whining from some loud mouthed internet crybabies is gonna change that either.
Get over yourselves; it's because of what many of these African American men HAVE been through, to get where they are today, that you have the ability to sit here and bag on them (for admitting that it's a real issue that they have personnaly faced) in the first place.
Wake up.
