Now I'm working with a set of Tommy Armour 845 cavity backs that give me a whole lot more forgiveness but a lot less distance.

155 yard par 3? I'm hitting an easy 9...with my wussy-ass titanium irons. If it was hot and dry outside, I'd "muscle-up" my PW. Of my golfing buddies who are sissy-swingers, they'd probably go with a 7 or an 8. And when I go KP on them (mayyyybe), I'll call them a "bunch of sissies"...good times.

Last time out, I teed off on #1(short dogleg left) with a perfectly struck(doesn't happen all the time) 8I, and got a little over 170 out of it...when it was cold and wet(which shortens distances quite a bit).


Ken -- I know this sounds outrageous to a guy who brags about being able to hit his driver 240 all day long, but it's true. I may not be the most accurate hitter, but club speed has never been a problem for me. And one of these days, I might even learn how to keep the club in-plane while swinging softer...hopefully I can master this before age 60.

I don't quite get that much out of my 50* PW/GW...but not too far off. Sucker disappears into the clouds when I crank it up that far, though, even though I guess I'm what you'd call a "lowballer." I guess it was the end of last season, me and my old buddy got together to watch a Trailblazers game on TV. Naturally, we clipped quite the freaking buzz leading up to, and during the game. Towards the end of halftime, we settled back in the living room, with fresh beers and freshly stoned, a little bit on the giggly side. As the announcers were wrapping up the halftime stats and whatsuch, they were showing the halftime wheelchair game being played on the floor. They kinda zoomed in on a guy who had just got the ball at the top of the paint, and did that gimp-ass dribble thing they do, and then got in position to make a rolling-layup.


Then, all of a sudden....some great big dude on the other team just freaking took this poor bastard out. The thugimp didn't even try to make a play on the ball...he just crashed into the dudes chair, and sent the fucker flying. He kinda postured over the guy, like he was going to talk some shit, too(in as much as a guy in a wheelchair can posture over a fallen victim). So now, the guy with the ball is out of his chair, alternating between writhing on the ground, and flopping around like a fish...dude was hurt. Then, all the other gimps tried to help him up, but A) dude was really hurt, and B) they just couldn't get the leverage from a sitting position. And the promoters/arena staff must have been busy, because no one ran out to help the guy, so he continued to flail around on the floor, anable to get back in the chair.


And all of this was right there for the watching, right there on the television, for the world to see. Thugimp just took the dude out with malicious intent...in a freaking wheelchair hoops game during halftime of an NBA game. And no one in the production booth seemed to notice, either, so the scene continued for a while.

My buddy looks over at me with this odd expression, and asks "I didn't really just see that, did I?"


It was soooooooo wrong....and soooooo funny to my intoxicated ass. I just couldn't stop laughing.


If there is a hell, I'm getting a first class ticket....sitting right next to the dude who went Kermit Washington during a wheelchair game.

I got no problem with any of that whatsoever

I got my chair rigged up with a spring loaded metal bar that swings out like the stop sign on a school bus when I activate it. It jams right into the spokes of someone next to me. I use it to stop fast breaks. Put em on the line to make we earn it one point at a time.

I'm kind of known for being a Bill Laimbeer type dickhead on the court. Since I can't use my arms I can't shoot, pass, or rebound. I'm mostly out there to make everyone else miserable.

I woudn't have been posturing over the guy. I would have gone after the basketball by running it over and trying to deflate it.

What you seem to struggle with, is that just because YOU'RE a pussy, it doesn't make everyone else a pussy by default.

Of the guys I play with regulary, the low-handicappers all get about the same distances out of their clubs as me, if not a little more(then again, they're swinging blades, as opposed to my titanium cavities). But...I'm quite a bit bigger and lankier than those guys are...they just have better swings.

Also nice to walk up to where it lies and find myself standing in the short stuff a good 70% or so of the time, thank you very much. Rack that shit and the fact that at 240-250 I STILL drive it further than average muni player out there (oh, and did I mention the part about finding it in the short stuff most of the time?)

Note: For the record, NOW you can attribute bragging about 240-250 yd., striped dirves to me.

Although, he's toned down the swing in recent years(since the knee injuries), and I don't seem to see him going for 205 yard approach shots with a 7I too often anymore.
