Long Hose? Never heard that one.

Agree with you on Farmer. Unfortunately for him, and other RB's of the Holtz era, Holtz generally preferred a tailback-by-committee approach that usually kept individual numbers down, although Denson wound up as ND's career rushing leader notwithstanding. Farmer's had a decent pro career.

In a way, it was nice having that much talent at the RB position, but someone invariably got lost in the shuffle. Dorsey Levens wound up transferring from ND because he was frustrated at his lack of playing time. Not one of Holtz' better moves, in hindsight.

DuBose had a "reputation" with the ladies.

Levens wasn't a casualty of lack of playing time, he got hurt. He was actually the starting TB coming out of spring practice in '90, but he got hurt. When he came back, he was behind Watters, Brooks, Culver, Bettis, etc. and decided to head to GaTech.

#31...Kip Taylor.

Kip was known for scoring the first touchdown in the history of the Michigan Stadium in 1927. I was fortunate enough to meet him some 70 years later when my roomie at the time, an editor for the Det. Free Press arranged a lunch at Bill Knapps in AA (Kip's choice). Still sharp in his 90's, Kip regailed us with tales of college life in the 20's.

anyway, this should say: Greg Pruitt at #30.

Pruitt averaged 9 yards per carry in 73. think about that. he was the first of the wishbone highlight backs that came to include Joe Washington and Billy Sims in OU's mid-late 70's teams. i tell you though, those teams won with defense. the "Okie 5-2".

Kenny King was a beast and a home run threat in the real triple option. i think he still still holds the longest run record for a TD in the Super Bowl, or was just recently eclipsed. Kenny King was probably the best wishbone FB at OU, maybe Stanley Wilson. Lydell Carr.

I also liked Vada Murry DB/FS 87-90, and I loved the clutch hands of Vince Bean who played opposite AC as Bo began to experiment with the forward pass.

I guess the edge goes to Moorhead on historical significance.
