Excuse me? Save the trick plays excuse. Boise was far and away a better team that day as well.

I'm not saying Boise didn't deserve the W, they did. I was rooting hard for them. They were a better team that day. But they played the game of their life and would usually lose to OU. Utah led this game the whole way. Utah beat 'bama by two td's. Bama only got two td's the whole game, one came after a turnover and the other should've came back for clipping. I'd say Utah is just a flat-out better team than 'bama in-general, therefore bama-fan might have a little more to be pissed about.

this is just my opinion on the OU-Boise game.

1. that Boise teams was loaded with seniors and 5th year seniors. the "great" OL for OU today were sophomores then. that was a really young OU team. and the weakest Big XII champ since Colorado 01.

2. OU had a WR playing QB. Peterson was back but i'm not sure OU wasn't a more desperate, cohesive O unit when he was out and running Allen Patrick between the tackles. and burning Chris Brown's redshirt. Sure, nobody is better WITHOUT Adrian Peterson than WITH Adrian Peterson....but, my uncle who was a high school coach in Oklahoma and Texas said that with Paul Thompson and Peterson in the first part of the year (before AD got hurt) that he didn't think they could decide what O to run. Peterson 8 yards deep in the I, or more of a passing game based on the throws Thompson could make. when it was all Patrick, it simplified things for Thompson.

3. OU has been beating other bowl teams with the tackle running/shorten the game O plan and Venables was blitzing his ass off the last 2-3 games trying to disguise OU's lack of coverage. a month to prepare, and that's not a problem for a guy like Peterson who can coach a little.

4. Boise did the things that year that has always troubled Stoops D's. balance between yards passing and running and a QB who can convert a 3rd and long with his feet (when Venables blitzes).

i take no sides in this issue. Boise was a good team. I do think OU would beat them most of the time, but Boise would have won more than 2 out of 10.

I didn't watch a whole lot of the game but what I did see, Bama really missed Andre Smith. Utah was able to get after Wilson from the left side. Brian Johnson is a helluva player...I remember him putting on a show in the opening game at the Big House.

The BCS sucks...another unbeaten season for the Utes goes unrewarded.

i don't know about that. TCU gave the game away at Utah and this is a much bigger W than beating a shit-dog Pitt team 4 years ago.

Utah not only beat 'bama, they did so convincingly, moreso than Florida did. Plus the Utes actually played a very legit sched. I think they have a real shot at the AP-vote, especially if the OU/Florida game is a scabdick.

I guess us nonSECBHS's can stop with the "PLAY SOMEBODY FOR GOD'S SAKE."

I guess we seen what happens when they do.

The SEC should probably stick with the D1AA cupcakes, since the mid-majors seem a bit too much for them.

They should also consider naming themselves after a little less intimidating kitchen gadget.... How about The Gravy Ladle Conference? Has a nice ring to it, and is a little more accurate.

What a shame for all the Bama & LSU & Arkansas & Mississippi State fans in the Superdome tonight who were damn-near-sure they would get to practice their "SEC, SEC, SEC, SEC, SEC" chant at the end of the game. Fucking tragedy.

didn't stop a UK player from leaning into an interview to give the SEC shout-out after a Liberty Bowl win against E. Carolina.

The one draw back to a Florida win is hearing the stupid SEC chant.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to live with it for one day rather than hear OU fan throwing their crystal trophy in our face all year long.

Besides I like the fact that they haven't won a BCS bowl game in my daughters lifetime.

It sucks when you hear it live as well...

Superdome last 2-3 minutes of tOSU's epoch BCSCG melt...all I hear is SEC, SEC...I am like what the fuck...

then I go to the UT v tOSU roundball game in Knoxville...samething...I mean tOSU had beaten UT 2 times already...and they got a close one from us...and they started with that SEC, SEC BS...

look I hope the Big 10 does well...but you will never hear me yell that shit...the more amazing thing is here in Charlotte you got a ton of South Carolina, UGA, etc...and even the mosted hated rivals cheer like that when they play out of conference...stupidest thing ever if you ask me...

Prior to playing Florida, 'Bama was behind for a total of 5 minutes or something in all of their games combined. When Utah punched them in the mouth, it didn't surprise me that they couldn't recover. Power running games are great, as long as you don't have to come from at least two touchdowns behind.

That whole game, I was saying things like "SEC SPEED!... BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

Then, I was all chanting "Moun-tain West, Moun-tain West!" I could hear similar chants reverberating throuh the neighborhood.

Bama was outrun to the point of having cirlcles run around them at almost every position.

Combine inferior athletes with some of the worst tackling techniques I've seen in D1 in a long time, and that's what happens, I guess.

the worst "SEC" shout out/chant was after Kentucky beat East Carolina and they are interviewing Rich Brooks and some UK player leans into the mic and yells "SEC, baybee".

ECU proved they were a good squad and good W for a 6-6 UK team....but on the PLANE of conference vs. conference, not sure that's one the SEC will feature in the montage of great SEC victories in it's halftime commercials for the 09-10 season.

I understand that but I have to watch SEC foot ball every freakin' Saturday. There are at least 3 SEC games on at virtually all times from 11am until through night games on the six viewable from my table. And yes it is my table, our names have plaques on them so you can run the drinking/skull/sooner smack now if you like; received the table from the owner and the old manager years ago for getting both the OU and Texas alumni associations to host their watch parties at the establishment. The OU and Texas screens are always side by side whether or not they are playing same time or not and makes for some great atmosphere.

I haven't seen great defenses in the SEC, I've seen absolutely atrocious offenses!!! Their OLines for the most part look like MAC Lines with size and no aligility, unable to hold a block past initial when not pushing forward for a run play, and unable to pick up middle linebackers on stunts and delayed blitzes.

Wide Receivers (with the lone exception of Florida and maybe one marquee guy on a couple of teams) who couldn't catch a cold; dropping balls that hit them in the hands and chests in the open field, unable or too nonathletic and knowledgeable to extend their hands to catch a ball in one on one coverage, and/or outright tripping over themselves because unless they're running in a straight line they're screwed. Tight ends who can't run a proper pattern to save their lives.

I see numerous quarterbacks who couldn't hit water falling out of a boat. I've never seen a conference with so many quarterbacks who lead their receivers 3 to 5 yards too far out or throw the ball 5 feet over the receivers head.

The SEC has good runningbacks but not so many more than the Big 12. Bama plays power run right now not because Saban is exclusively a power run guy but because their QB is a prime example of someone who couldn't complete a pass consistently even if he had Chris Carter, Jerry Rice, and Terrell Owens on the field at wide out. Fucking Matt Stafford is the best throwing QB in the league... for fuck's sake Matt Stafford; kid barely can complete 60% of his passes and it's not because they are on target and defender brakes it up; it's because of the fore mentioned offensive issues.

I might buy into the whole Big 12 defenses are soft but they're no more soft than SEC offenses are pathetic.
