ND gets a tipped pass for a pick, and they're on the USC 13. Okay, this isn't over. Better keep playing, guys.
1st play, Clausen gets sacked again...

3rd and 12...
ND TD! Clausen to Tate.
Dammit. ND got the turnover they needed. Now it's a one score game again. 34-27 USC.
USC has to score again.

First play, easy pitch and catch for 9. Still no pressure on Barkley.
Second play, McKnight for a tough run for the 1st down.
USC on their own 42, 6:13 left...
USC calls a time out.
USC is looking to salt this one away with a long, time consuming drive. Can ND's D come up with the stop, and can USC avoid going into a Prevent Offense mode, which could possibly cost them the game.

2nd and forever...
McKnight runs for eight.
3rd and 10...
McKnight takes a screen for eight.
4th and 2, from the 48. They're punting.
ND will have the chance to tie this game.ND's ball on their 22, with 4:18 remaining.
Jesus, USC had this thing in the bag, now they've let it become a game...

USC is playing soft now. Fuck. They're going to get picked apart if they don't go back to pressuring Clausen. A Prevent D WILL prevent them from winning.

Still no ND turnovers. That's huge. USC made the big one, and that turnover is now why we have a game.
FUCK! USC broke the ball loose, but it bounced to an ND player! Huge disaster for ND averted there.

USC holds. USC wins.

not a great effort on the last play. throw it short of the goal line and there's 2 USC defenders within 5 yards of the guy. almost a pick

One more play...again...
...time out, USC.
So, will it be a jump ball to Tate, something in the back of the end zone to Rudolph, or a bootleg or QB draw?

Very impressed with Barkley and Clausen today. USC just doesn't seem to know how to put people away which is so unusual because I'm used to seeing them step on team's throats and not let up. I think they might lose one more because of not finishing teams off when they can. Props to ND for the impressive comeback. If I were a voter, I'd move them UP this week a spot or two.

I might move ND up too, but I certainly wouldn't drop them any.
Meanwhile, as raw as USC looks with such a young D and a true freshman QB the fact remains that that true freshman QB hasn't lost yet, and he's already won roadies at The Shoe, Berkeley and South Bend. That kid has played in some hellish environments and come out shining each time.
If USC can beat UCLA they'll have won all their rivalry games again this year, plus their huge OOC game against OSU, so the future definitely looks bright.
They're going to have to play a steadier, more complete game if they want to win in Autzen and have any real chance at running the table.
USC's penchant for letting off the gas is worrisome - though not as worrisome as it'd be to always be having to come from behind - but the thing that remains most troubling are the personal foul and dead ball foul penalties. I'd like to see them at least fix the easily preventable, self-inflicted errors. They really do need to stop shooting themselves in the foot. They can't keep sustaining drives for the other team.
They also need to create more turnovers, in a big way.

Fuck me. That game was way closer than it needed to be, or should have been.
Notre Dame gets some credit. That game was over at 34-14 and I proclaimed as
much to LAX. ND nutted up though and didn't quit. USC sure helped them out though.
Still satisfied with the win though despite the score.
SC's defense is money (when they're not drawing stupid penalties) and still very tough to run on.
With as many times as ND had to put the ball in the air, 285 yards is pretty respectable.
Golden Tate is a beast. Great hands.
Matt Barkley is just solid for a freshman. I love watching him go through his reads and love
the way he stands in there inspite of the rush. I get why Pete likes this guy so much.

How? Easy. They weren't the only team to lose today, and some of those other teams near the bottom of the Top 25 may have lost much worse.
With that closing rally I really doubt ND hurt themselves much today, in terms of rankings.
I haven't really looked at everyone there yet though, which is why I said, "might." I'll reserve judgment until I get a chance to look over everyone on the list.
