First of all, Iowa is not that good. Scoring in the 4th quarter to beat NIU at HOME is not a a sign of a good team. Having to block a field goal LATE to preserve the win at HOME is not the sign of a great team. Being up 7 points to start the 4th quarter against Arizona and Arkansas St at HOME... is not the sign of a team worthy of massive praise. You had to come from behind LATE to beat Michigan State. You had to come up big LATE in the game to hold off Michigan.....at home. I give you credit for beating PSU on the road. But, you were trailing in the 4th quarter and had to score LATE to put the game away. If PSU blocks the field goal and takes it back and scores with a 2 pt conversion, you are tied. So that is LATE.

You needed to aided by the ref to beat Indiana. You entered the 4th quarter at HOME losing to Indiana. Great teams do not do this. Iowa lost 4 games last year by a COMBINED 12 points. They lost by a god damn yard (essentially) to MSU. After Iowa won their last 4 games and MSU went into the tank, you got all defensive about me saying Iowa improved throughout the year and was a better team at the end of the season. How about this: Iowa hasn't won shit at the Shoe or against OSU in general. Every time you step foot in the the place, the Hawkeyes shit themselves. Overall they hold a 44-14-3 record over you and Iowa has only won 2 times in the last 50 years in Columbus. When a team is 23-2 at home against you, it does not deserve an 10 page analysis of why they are going to beat the shit out of you. Iowa's last win in Columbus was in 1991. Even in 2002 when you had your best team of the last 90 years, you got over because you did not have to play OSU.

As for picking up chicks.....dude, please. I am sure you notched your calendar every time you got to 1st base and told everyone you got a blowie. The fact that some chick married you is a miracle. So, uh....no breakdowns of the game? Nothing about THIS year, being that Iowa and tOSU are playing their game in 2 weeks and not 20 years ago.

Iowa has never started 8-0. We are 9-0. Iowa hadn't defeated a Top 5 team since 1990 before we beat Penn State last year. We've now beaten 2 in the last calendar year. Only 1 time since 1985 has Iowa been ranked this high at this point in the season.

So that 44-14-3 take is useless. This is not 1965. This isn't even 2006. You've got NOTHING else? Just "past Iowa teams got beat by tOSU"?? Really? That's all you got??

This is my point, Harv.........you people just don't want to believe Iowa is for real because they're Iowa. Pulling out past history against an opponent is pointless because Ohio State has been a far superior program to everyone in this conference except Michigan for the past 40 years. But what does that have to do with 2009?

You want my prediction on the Iowa-tOSU game? I honestly don't know who will win. I think right now it's a toss-up. I want the Buckeyes to play Penn State close and lose. 2 reasons for that........1.an Ohio State loss and an Iowa win essentially puts Iowa in the Rose Bowl. 2.because a blowout loss will piss off Ohio State and I think you'll see their best effort against Iowa even though they're really not playing for a lot at that point. A close, emotional loss, and I could see them coming out flat.

Now, if they win........this changes EVERYTHING. It becomes the biggest game since the 1985 game vs Michigan for Iowa. In this scenario, I would think the edge would go to the homefield team (Ohio State). They've also got more experience playing in huge games like this. So if both Iowa and Ohio State win, I would probably pick Ohio State to win. Until I see Iowa win a game of that magnitude, I'll take the program with the experience in such games.

Lose by a close margin to Penn State........I will take Iowa to win this game with relative easy. Maybe 27-13- something like that. I think the intangibles would really be on Iowa's side here. Not only is Iowa the team playing for something in this scenario, but I think Ohio State would be in for an emotional letdown.

Lose by a big margin to Penn State.........This is the tricky scenario because you still will have Iowa playing for all the marbles and Ohio State playing for the Outback/CapOne Bowl (which ain't much to them). But a blowout loss to PSU and you might see them come out and play for pride since their manhood will have been questioned. So, I would probably say this is a toss-up given this situation.

In terms of the teams themselves.........

There's no doubt in my mind, Iowa is a better team. Iowa also plays their best away from Kinnick for whatever reason. They won't be intimidated by The Shoe. This is why you can't bring up past Iowa records against the Buckeyes because no Iowa team that I can ever remember was this good on the road. Nor have I ever seen an Iowa team have the poise and resiliency of this one. Teams in the past, they would get behind against the Buckeyes and it was over. They had no confidence to beat them. I don't see that happening with this team. I do think playing tight is a possibility, however.

But to sit there and tout that previous Iowa-OSU history as your only reasoning for why the Buckeyes will win is just showing your inability to form a real take and give any decent analysis.

Harv brought NOTHING other than that. I broke down the Iowa-Penn State game inside and out. Iowa owns Penn State for the simple reason that our coaches know how to beat them and our players have confidence in beating them. Plus, we match up very well with Penn State in most years. This year, as I had predicted, was nothing different.

Ohio State has owned Iowa throughout the years because they've had much better players and most Iowa teams did not have the confidence to beat them. This years Iowa team is different than Iowa teams because Ohio State does not have better players and we've got a much more confident football team than you normally see out of Iowa. That's why there is a difference.

Midwest + too many bars within easy walking distance to anywhere on campus = problems. I have been very open with my own personal situation and I will not criticize others for doing something I did. That's what being a hypocrite is. Yes, I went and got a degree. Did pretty decent in school. But I spent WAY too much time at these same bars and the only reason I never got arrested while in college was because of LUCK. And i have been very fair in my criticisms of Ferentz on how he's disciplined his players. I've asked for tougher punishments on numerous occasions, just so you know. But the culture in Iowa City DOES need to change. This isn't a football issue, it's a campus wide issue. We aren't the only campus, but we've got as big of a problem with it as any school you'll find. That's no joke.

Ferentz IS one of the best coaches in the country, and only a fool would disagree. Nobody can make a claim to who the absolute best coach is. That's very subjective. But to think Kirk doesn't rank right up there with any of them is ridiculous. To do what he's done with mostly 2 and 3 star recruits is nothing short of amazing. You can't argue that.
