At any rate, the stream was rolling along
swimmingly 'til the goddamned thing decided to reset itself back to second quarter after Gabbert's last pick and with just under a minute left to go in the game. I about blew an ankle tearing up the stairs to catch the end of Moe's sprint to the house on my AM radio.

This was ANOTHER obvious example of evidence that any claim by any team at any time that they are the best team in the nation (AND) National champion is pure fantasy. There are always teams that are ranked that have no business being so and unfortunately the system allows for those foolish guessing game mistakes to be perpetuated by mind-numbing scheduling, media bias, and of course, no playoff system.
So great, win a game and preen for a week....

Actually 5 if you throw in the one that was negated by Iowa's false start.

Stanford's 68-24 win over Wake Forest wasn't as close as the scoreboard would indicate. Stanford led 41-10 at halftime and scored TDs on their first 8 possessions before taking out the first string on both sides of the ball mid third quarter. Luck had 4 TD passes and scored on a 52 yard scramble. Both the second and third string QBs also led TD drives.
On top of all that, Stanford put up 303 yards on the ground with an 8 yard average. 5 different players with 30 or more yards each. The offense punted only once and had no turnovers. The defense continues to impress allowing only 76 yards passing and 283 total, most of which came after the first string exited.
This team plays a hard hitting pro-style game. Very good size, good speed, great leadership and very few gimmics. Very impressive over the first three games, though they haven't really been tested. The UCLA win just became a little more impressive with their win last night. The possibilities in PAC10 race are getting more interesting every week.

If you're talking about the race to the Alamo Bowl (maybe even the Rose Bowl), then yeah, whatever.
The PAC definitely seperated the contenders from the pretenders this weekend.
Kal, UDub... they are who we thought they were.
Jury's still out on OS... but they always improve as the season goes on.
But there's this team in the PAC, who granted has played two cupcakes and an almost-good team... but there's this one PAC team that's #1 in scoring defense in the country, #1 in total defense, #1 in scoring offense, #1 in total offense, and even #1 in punt returns for the icing on the cake.
All those other teams that have championship aspirations should be very afraid right now.
Wisky is going to look pretty silly after barely getting past ASU at home. Oregon is going to go into their house and hang 60 on them, and possibly pitch a shutout.
And BTW -- the SEC East sucks.

There could be lag, I don't know?
FWIW, the Big East said it was a proper non-call:
http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/20 ... e-msu.html
"The responsibility is assigned to the Back Judge, who in this situation was standing beneath the upright. Proper mechanics dictate that his focus be directed to the play clock as it approaches zero. When the play clock display reads zero, he must re-direct his attention to the ball. At that time, if the snap has not started, a flag will be thrown for delay of game. If the snap has begun, no flag will be thrown.
"Under these procedures, there will always be a small amount of lag time between the time the clock reads zero and the time the Back Judge is able to see the football.
"On the play in question, this lag time created the situation where it appears the play clock expired just before the snap. We believe the snap occurred well within the normal lag time for the Back Judge to make this determination.

Uhm... not Stanford.
Must be a different defending conference champion that leads the country in offense, defense, and special teams.

The Pac looks pretty good at the top. Zona was definitely underrated heading into season. Still kicking myself for picking against them at home under the lights, especially when Big Ten teams typically do not play well out west. The Ducks look freakish on offense, but I'll hold judgment until they play an actual defense. I bought into the hype last year before they faced Ohio State's d.

4 out of 5 isn't bad. They're only 4th in punt returns.

4th in average, 1st in yards... because with the #1 defense, they're on the reciving end of a wholebuncha punts.
